Description
We're a non-profit initiative based in Panchgani, India that's all about sustaining indigenous art and craft. Our founder, Mandakini, had a dream to provide a safe space for traditional artists to create and evolve their art in a modern context, and thus this place was born.
From just three Dhokra artists in 2008, we've grown to a team of 50+ artisans - men and women - who work together to infuse art into everyday life. Our products range from pure art pieces to items of utility, and we take pride in infusing modern design sensibilities into traditional arts and crafts.
We're constantly evolving new designs and new processes while staying rooted in our tradition, that way we are bridging the gap between traditional art and contemporary art. We have a string of breakthrough products to our credit, including Rock Dhokra (patented) and Organic Dhokra - a process of casting natural materials directly into metal and Beaten Iron Craft a process of iron integrated with wood, stone, as part of a painting on canvas, or even infusion with metals such as brass and copper,
But it's not all work and no play! We're a tight-knit community here and we love to celebrate life together. You'll often find us playing a game of volleyball or kabaddi at the end of the day.
We see this place as a space where innovative creative expression of indigenous arts sustains both the art and the artist. We welcome anyone who shares our passion for art and community to come and join us!Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre
