    Description

Mörður is a permaculture educator having led most of Icelands permaculture courses, he is an eco innovator creating card games, paper that grows and more. He travelled the nordic countries and spent time in Guatemala meeting specialist in eco development as well as innovation. If you want to learn about practical permaculture without pretense combined with innovation then he has a lot to offer.
While he is strong and capable worker his neurological system isn't functioning causing many problems and thus he needs volunteers to carry out the work needed to build the eco innovations that can replace obsolete harmful solutions.

I are building up my land, focusing on using materials that society disregards and throws away. We have a small circus tent and are setting up a portable festival camp so we can offer a special area for environmental and spiritual growth.

We can play and have fun building up fertility for the land and interesting structures for ourself which we cover with turf and soil so they resemble Icelandic turf houses. Everything we build is hidden because we associate ourselfs with the mythological "Huldufólk" roughly translated as Hidden people.

We are active most of July and August. We work hard when needed but always with a smile. If the world can't be saved while smiling then it isn't worth saving.

Main focus in 2021 is setting up permaculture events, charcoal and biochar production, fertilizer production tests and supporting a Environmental educational center.

There will be active community building within and between the crews and high emphasis of enjoying life while making great things happen. This is an lifetime opportunity to build something amazing from scratch which will keep growing for years to come.

    The site
It is a small piece of land where a permaculture and eco innovation pioneer is creating his playground for testing and improving regenerative (step above sustainable) methods and technology. First project is developing a new building type that uses IBC tanks as walls and thermal mass, there will also be a foundry to melt aluminium and lava rock, worm farm, charcoal and later biochar production and much more.
This is a mad hatter project of sorts, if your longing to camp in a eco development site with a lot of innovation and expression than this is a perfect fit.

We share Icelandic folklore, permaculture, innovation, eco work and I promise you will know how to handle most hand tools correctly (which very few do properly).

There will be five volunteer crews and they will interact on many levels

The groups are the building, land, nourishment, art and organization crew.
Most people will be part of two crews mainly, this is so that we have our roles and tasks each day and make things happen effectively.

    Building crew
Responsible for setting up compost toilets, workshop environments, event areas, wind brakes raised grow beds structures and innovative building projects based on the groups skills.

    Land crew
Responsible for making paths, compost, raised beds, hugelculture grow beds, big burms, herbal gardens and innovative projects based on the skills of people in the group.

    NOURISHMENT crew
Responsible for keeping up the strength of all groups, food preparation, snacks, work group events and fun projects they want to make happen.

    Art crew
Responsible for adding magical beauty to the environment that we work with and keeping spirits high. Painting and innovative ways to make recycled material pretty and inspiring.

    Organization crew
Responsible for information flow, interaction with authorities, design, sourcing resources, arranging logistics and coming up with new ways of improving the location.

It is possible to shift between crews and this might be taken very loosely.
Most people will be part of two crews mainly, this is so that we have our roles and tasks each day and make things happen effectively.

    What kind of work?
We need to set up raised pallet beds, make paths, paint our wood, clean up, smile, arrange a ceremonial area, cook food, make potions from local plants, forage materials from disposal sites, build temporary buildings, make everything pretty with your expressive art, dance because we want to, organize events, record everything, present ourselfs to the world and more.

Mörður lives on site in a tiny house on wheels, there is amazing water from the local spring and solarcells on the house provide enough electricity to charge basic personal equipment. There is a good camping area and the area is very peaceful.

We prioritize volunteers that bring their own tents.

This is an offgrid experience. If you want to connect to nature and learn how to utilize materials in a new way then we are a great place to be.

We will try our best to make everyone comfortable but we are funded by one mans disability check the last years but working on funding to increase the quality of life for volunteers.

We are located between the towns of Selfoss and Flúðir. Weirdly there is an amazing Ethiopian restaurant in Flúðir that is a must to experience. We regularly go to Selfoss so access to all basic services is secured.

We recommend checking out the hotsprings in Hveradalur and especiall Hrunalaug by Flúðir which is within 20 min drive from the site. We usually go there a few times each summer and sometimes with our brother project Spirit farm. Our volunteers have enjoyed hiking and taken walks in the area.

We recommend experiencing Íslenski bærinn () where turf house building techniques are shared. These are complex and clever building techniques that any builder or earth lover will be fascinated by.
