On 1.5 ha at an altitude of approx. 1500 m.a.s.l. we grow a vast variety of vegetables, grains, fruit and ornamental plants in line with permaculture principles.
We are located a 45 minutes drive away from the capital City of Sikkim, Gangtok and a 15 min. drive from old and new Rumtek monasteries. In this rural area many Farmers cultivate Rice on terraced fields, however, we have converted our terraced fields into a permaculture garden. Presently we are expanding perennials, working out details of plantations of additional fruit trees, making a deadwood-hedge-living-fence, introducing a greenhouse and constructing a fishpond.
Activities Workawayers can engage include mulching, weeding, planting, watering, harvesting, sowing, fertilizing, composting, creating permaculture-features and small habitats, feeding our rabbits and chickens, etc.
Workawayers are expected to work 5 hours per day on 5 days a week. This allows for time to explore nearby buddhist monasteries, go for a day-trip to Gangtok, etc.
Our team will gladly assist you in planning activities during off-days.

Collaboration with local team - cultural exchange. Stay in standard hotel room. Assist team with general garden work, creation of permaculture features, assisting with data collection and networking , finetuning permaculture design and garden calendar, networking for marketing of farm products, etc
Seasonal outdoor tasks such as mulching, sowing, propagating, watering, composting , making hugelbeet, banana-circle, deadwood hedge, assisting in elaborating garden designs / seasonal calendar, assisting with garden related documentations such as working on informative texts for our visitors on each plant / tree / permaculture-feater in our garden.

You will eat with our staff and be offered 3 warm vegetarian meals per day. A typical meal consists of lentils, rice or flat bread and vegetables.
You will be provided a standard forest-view guest-room or a single guest-room with panorama-viewduring your stay. Botch come with attached toilet and shower.
During off time you can visit nearby monasteries, villages and the capital City Gangtok.
You can travel by public shared taxis.
