  Description

  Welcome to Benanie's! I, Melanie, and my husband, Benoit live here along with our two boys, our dog Renault, a couple barn cats, and some horses. We live on a lovely 10 acre farm close to the small town of Echo Bay, Ontario. We have a small garden in the summertime and are working at naturalizing our property. This is a gorgeous part of the world with lots of places to explore near by. It's a wonderful spot if you are a nature lover!

  Benoit has a large Franco Ontarian family here, many of which are musicians. We attend many events at the AlgomaTrad Arts Centre on St Josephs Island, including concerts, contra dances, and traditional art workshops. The opportunity to join in on any of these events is more than welcome.The family also get together to play traditional music often.
  
  We have many skills and try to do everything ourselves here at home. There would be lots of learning opportunities from day to day. By hosting people from different cultures, I would hope to inspire people to live a more alternative lifestyle and would love for our children to be exposed to many different cultures and ways of living.
  
  I have hosted workaway's at my families farm and have also travelled and done workaway throughout the UK, Spain and France. We think it is such a wonderful program and are looking forward to integrating it into our lives as parents now!

  Aide

  We welcome someone who can join in on the day to day at home. We have a 9 month old and a two year old, mom at home and dad at work kind of deal. The reality of our culture doesn't provide the "it takes a village" parenting that we so need. We are hoping to find a "nanny" type person to help with the kids, help with cooking, and take on as much or as little other chores as they would like. We are a very easy going family who could just use an extra set of hands here and there. Helping with the two kids would be the most important task! We had a lovely helper for the summer. She was happy to help when needed as we don't have a regular schedule. Hoping other helpers would be okay with this too.

  We can offer a private room in our house. We have a small house but it is kept very clean and organized. There is only one bathroom! The bedroom in the house has a queen sized bed and a dresser for use. We like to cook all our own meals and try to eat organically and mostly seasonal foods. We unfortunately can not accommodate a vegan or strict vegetarian lifestyle. We do however try to only eat local, consciously raised meat. We are open to trying new foods if you like to cook. We are a mostly gluten free household.

  We have lots of space to park a campervan and are conveniently located very close to the trans Canada highway. It is helpful to have a vehicle but we can also offer ours for local outings.
