I was lucky to spend around two weeks with this family in February and had such a wonderful experience! This was my first time as a Workawayer and it couldn’t have asked for a better family. I felt welcomed and comfortable at all times, each and every member of the family was incredibly kind.
They live in a beautiful region in the mountains that
… read more is very peaceful and has some unbelievable views of the stars at night time! The house is quite secluded (except for a couple of neighbouring houses), and was super cozy with a fireplace and many books. I had my own room with a double bed.
As for the ‘work’, it was quite flexible and relaxed - for example, there was not a strict number of hours or tasks to complete each day. I mainly spent time playing with their three girls, teaching a bit of English here and there, minding them if the parents were out, helping with cooking/dishes etc. I also loved taking their beautiful dog Rozae for walks in the forest!
The parents are very calm, down-to-earth and generous people who take a lot of care in teaching their children values like patience and tolerance. The three girls are all very inquisitive, thoughtful and open-minded. We did lots of fun activities together - card games, playing dart competitions, skiing, reading comic books, painting, going to the cinema, baking... We often spent time with neighbours or family friends, and there were sometimes other guests staying in the house who we shared nice meals with.
Overall, it was a very memorable stay. It would be lovely to return one day. Thank you again!Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

I stayed with this family for 1 month, and I loved it. They took me in at short notice, and already on the second day (I arrived in the evening) the children were opening up to me and wanted to play games with me. They even had patience enough to try to teach me how to play Chess! The house is very nice, very cozy, and I had my own room and
… read more bathroom which I only had to share when guests or family stayed in the other guest room.
The family lives in the Haut Jura, a very beautiful place! I was there in December so there was a lot of snow. That called for days spent skiing and sledding (when their sweet dog (who doesn’t jump!) didn’t decide to lay down in our tracks), making snowmen and having snowball fights. A lot of us had our birthdays in December, and I was also with them for Christmas - both of which were nice experiences.
They live outside of a small village and so there wasn’t any city noice - it was very peaceful. It was actually just like having two families, as their one neighbour lives 20 meters away. All five girls play together very often, and the both families invited everyone for lunch, dinner, pancakes and the likes (the mum of the neighbouring family makes the best pancakes I’ve ever had!). Both families were open and interested in getting to know me and my country and culture, and in turn they taught me how to play chess (as well as improve my French, of course).
The three girls were so sweet, kind, and fun to be with, very active as well, and I loved every moment with them. The parents were, as I wrote, very interested in me and my normal life as well as sharing their daily life with me. They were kind and observant, and very fun to be around.
My first Workaway stay (with another family) wasn’t the best, and I’m so happy that I got the experience I thought it would be at the end, even if it turned out to be in another place and family.
I can only recommend this family - it’s not something that anyone would regret. I’d love to maybe one day come back :).Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

I had the pleasure of spending a month and a half with this family. it will take a long time to try and tell everything we've done, but every part of it was just great.
The family lives in the Haut Jura which is an amazing area of green and mountains. They live in a small village, in complete peace and quiet.
From the first moment I came to their
… read more house I felt fully accepted and welcomed by everyone. The girls are super friendly and included me from the beginning in their games. The work never felt like real work, to be honest.
Although the weather was not the optimal one most times, we made the best of the sunny days by going to lakes, hikes in the surroundings, raspberries picking in the forest...and in the wintery days we ate good cheese with good wine and music, played chess ("the international chess tournament of Sous La Joux") or just sat next to the fire singing songs.
I'm already missing this family and sincerely wish them all the best, hoping I will have the chance to visit them again.
bisous bisous Mathieu, Aline, Philomene, Agathe, Suzie and RoseieVous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.
