Hey there, Workawayers from near or afar!
Let me do first a quick presentation: I'm a solo-mother of two (13 and 9 yo) kids, working a lot and living in a nice and veeeery old house in Switzerland. There is a huge garden outside where I try to cultivate biodiversity and some vegetables too in a spirit of permaculture. We also have 3 cats, that love to be cuddled and well fed.
We live in a small town, near all facilities but in a shell of nature. Lake is 10 minutes by feet, as is the forest, center of city is 10 minutes by bus, and there are a lot of possibilties to hike all around the area.
I like culture, theatre, music, concerts, festivals, reading books by the chimney fire and discussing on how to change the system to ameliorate the life of humans without screwing the planet.
I speak french (that's the language we speak at home), english, a little spanish and german too. I understand the last two very well.

I'm a seamstress by diploma but now I work as an administrator for an association. I have lots of skills to share, from sewing to baking, from knowing bird's names to showing you the area and explaining its history (do you like chocolate factories anecdotes? I have plenty...). We can help you with french learning, my son can teach you about all the Pokemons he knows and my daughter can introduce you to the subtil art of listening to a french audio book while reading mangas! We can also provide you with discovering new movies never seen from you, hiking in beautiful scenery, I can recommend books and podcasts, documentary and experiences...
Outside a pandemic moment, you can accompany us to visit museums, maybe come to see a theatre play or a street festival.

I work at a 100% rate, away for home (no home-office). This let me with so little time to cook and do all the housework that I would love to be helped with this. What can you do to help us? Very simple, here are some tasks that I will ask from you:
- Helping with the breakfasts (yes, it implies that you'll have to wake up during week-days on the same schedule as the kids)
- Planning the meals (with my help)
- Cooking the meals planned together (minimum of four lunches and two supper during the week-days)
- Basic cleaning (dishes, table, vacuum, etc)
- Gardening (depending on the season, it can be planting seeds, watering, getting rid of the snails...)
- Kid-sitting one to two evenings a week
- Playing with my son (outside or inside) and chatting with my daughter
- Small DIY projects (planting nails, drilling holes in a wall, wall painting, etc)
This is a non-exhaustive list, we can do with what skills you bring us, but cooking, kid-sitting and cleaning are essentials. Also a very important thing to keep in mind: mental load. If you don't know what it is, please educate yourself about this. You are coming to help, and not to be a third child for me ;-)
During July and August, we won't be hosting any workawayers, due to the holidays.
You are totally free during the week-ends except one saturday per month (I have lessons that day).

I can help you with learning french or english, and I would be happy to improve my german and spanish!
There is a big room waiting for you, with a nice big mastress and lots of pillows, blankets and quilts. There are enough storage room for nomadic guests. The house is old, so in winter it can be quite cold in the room, but there is a additionnal heater that you can use. We have a washing machine at home and you can use it. Bathroom is small and shared with all (including the kids). The living room is big, with a fire place (chimney), that you are invited to use. However, I work in that room in the evenings, so I need quiet time at that moment. You are welcome to be in the living-room during these hours to do some study, reading or whatever you want as long as I'm not disturbed. You can use the WiFi, we don't have a fix phone. There are some rules in the house that I ask you to follow for the wellness of all.
We are a non-smokers home, drug and alcohol-free. If you have any allergies or illness (including mental condition), please just let me know beforehand and we will see how we can handle this during your stay. My home is unfortunately not accessible for wheelchairs.
Respect is the key. I ask for honesty and transparency. I'm very active in ecology and sustainability, doing my best to live simply so that other can simply live. We had some beautifull experiences with Workawayers until now, so I really hope it goes on.
During the pandemic, I will ask you to be very carefull with all sanitaries guidelines in Switzerland. If you don't believe there is a virus active at the moment, please do not ask to stay with us. I also ask that you are fully vaccinated, because we have family members with fragile health. .

I have a good wifi connection that I can share, I can also provide a computer (iMac) if needed. However, I still ask some help especially with the meal-cooking that must be done at a speficic time (lunch) due to my kids schedules.
