    Description

    Hello!
My name is Franck, I’m 41 years old, and I’ve been working in organic farming since 2012. I run a small organic farm in New Caledonia where I grow a variety of vegetables, bananas, and more recently, garlic. All our production is certified under the Bio Pasifika label, and we sell our produce through a cooperative.

I work alongside my father, with whom I’m officially partnered, and we also have one employee. My mother, my partner, and even my children (who are with us every other weekend) also help out from time to time — it’s a real family effort!

We live in Focola, in the commune of Farino, a beautiful and peaceful rural area. The banana fields are 5 minutes from home, while the vegetable plots are about 25 minutes away by car. Our nursery, where we produce our own seeds, is located in the village of La Foa at my father’s place.

We're looking forward to welcoming open-minded and curious volunteers who want to experience life on an organic farm and discover our beautiful region !

Staying with us is more than just lending a hand on the farm — it’s also a rich cultural exchange. We love sharing our way of life, stories, and experiences with visitors from around the world. In return, we’re always curious to learn from our guests.

As a Workawayer, you’ll be part of our daily life. We share meals together and often have great conversations about farming, nature, etc. My partner and I both enjoy meeting people from diverse backgrounds — we can speak English so communication is easy even if your French is limited.

There are many opportunities to connect with the local community.
You can join me to attend meetings with the Bio Calédonia association, where you'll learn about the Pacific participatory guarantee system for organic farming.
My father does a lot of hiking and can invite you along for a walk.
We practice freediving at the pool in La Foa every Thursday and we go spare fishing at time when it is possible.
My partner can take you horseback riding at a nearby cattle farm, or lend her car so you can explore the area on your own, depending on her schedule.

  • Aide

    Aide

We welcome Workawayers who are motivated, open to learning, and ready to experience life on a small organic farm. The help we need is quite varied, depending on the season and ongoing projects. Tasks may include:
    - Harvesting vegetables
    - Washing and sorting produce after harvest
    - Weeding and maintaining crop areas
    - Sowing seeds in the nursery
    - Transplanting and planting crops
    - Participating in small construction projects

Help days usually start early and we spend the day in the fields, often with a picnic lunch. Workawayers can help 2 or 3 full workdays per week (usually Monday and Thursday at least for harvest). Other days are free.

I enjoy explaining how organic farming works in practice, and we often take time to talk about soil management, the Bio Pasifika certification system, etc.

  • Hébergement

    Hébergement

We offer a clean, comfortable, and secure place to stay. You’ll have your own private bedroom in our family home — it has a double bed, a small shelf for your belongings, and access to shared spaces like the bathroom, kitchen, and living room. The house is a cozy F4 (3-bedroom home) with a garden, and we live in a quiet rural area.

For those who prefer more peace and independence, it’s also possible to sleep on the farm. There’s a small shelter with electricity, water, a mattress, and a table. But it is still under construction and toilets and kitchen are not ready yet.

We share breakfast and dinner at home, and have a picnic lunch in the fields during workdays. We eat mostly fresh vegetables from the farm. We eat meat but not every day. It would be appreciated if you could give a hand cooking with us.

During your free time, there’s plenty to explore in the surrounding area. We live near some of New Caledonia’s most beautiful natural spots: The Parc des Grandes Fougères (a lush rainforest with great hiking trails),
The waterfall of Farino and natural swimming spots like the Sarraméa basin, Local farmers’ markets in La Foa and Farino on weekends, etc.

My partner may be able to lend you her car during the day (depending on her schedule), so you can explore the area more independently.

If you would like to go further for several days you can catch the bus called Raï or rent a car in La Foa.

Having a driving licence is mandatory !

As for our lifestyle, we don’t smoke, and we prefer a calm, relaxed home environment. We ask that you help keep shared spaces tidy and respect everyone’s routines and privacy.

We also have two dogs and a cat, so it’s important that you’re comfortable around animals.

We have a good wifi connection at home.
