    Description

My name is Thomas, I am from France but I have been living in the caribbean since 1996. Right now I live in my vessel in Portobelo (Panama). Here I have a catamaran too. At this moment I am preparing the boats to sail.

I would like to receive volunteers to have some help with the daily tasks and the maintenance of the boats.

I'm an open minded mechanical engineer and handy person who loves sailing and fishing, so I could share my knowledge with the volunteers.
I can also help you to improve your French, Spanish and English.
I know the area very well since I've lived here for 9 years too, so I could show the place to the volunteers and take them to different beaches, go kayaking, snorkeling, walks in the jungle to meet howling monkeys, sloths, tucans, etc...

  • Hébergement

    Hébergement

The volunteer will stay on the boat in his/her own cabin.
He will have 3 meals per day.
The boats are anchored in the bay of Portobelo (Colon province, Panamá).
The boat are far from land and most of the transport is done by kayak, so volunteers shouldn't expect to be ashore too much. But except if the weather is bad, I use to go at the end of the day for a drink. But I also have a dinghy with outboard in case.

    Autres infos...

Portobelo Bay is a beautiful natural harbor, with warm waters for swimming and surrounded by exuberant vegetation. Here you can see howling monkeys, sloths, tucans, parrots, crocodiles, dolphins, and plenty see birds as pelicans, gannets, frigates, seagulls, etc. I even saw a Jaguar once...
Snorkeling you will have the feeling of being in an aquarium!
The village of Portobelo has 3 old Spanish forts that can be visited, as well as a little museum located in the old custom building.
Portobelo is the place where the Spanish galleons were loading the gold from americs.
Entertainment is normally going to the white sand beaches, walking in the jungle, kayaking, fishing, doing exercises to improve apnea aptitude, and going to town for a drink in one of the bars and restaurants in the village.
But you can also spend your free time reading and relaxing in the hammock.
The boat is far from land and most of the transport is done by kayak. But I also have a unsinkable dinghy powered by an 8hp outboard in case of emergency, or for a long ride.
In Portobelo you will be able to take a bus to Colon or Panama City every 1/2 hour.
There's also 2 public health clinics with dentist, as well as a police station.
