I stayed with Helga for a few weeks and it's been a lovely experience!
Reykholt is not far from Reykjavík, very quiet and surrounded by beautiful nature. The kids were very kind and not at all demanding and Helga is a great mom, generous and super funny, you'll feel right at home :)
(the cats were also 10/10 :) )

We spent around 10 days at Helga's place, and we had a really nice time. The family was very welcoming, at we were included as part of the family. It is a very lively home with some very energetic children, and there was almost always something going on. Helga was very busy, so we did not spend that much time with her, but we still had some really
… read more good times together, and there was plenty of things in the area that we could to on our own or with the children. Helga recommended a tour to a glacier nearby (which was really cool), some of the children showed us Hraunfossar, and we borrowed a car for a day trip to Akranes (and much more).
The "work" consisted of looking after the children, cleaning, cooking, lawn mowing etc.

How could I forget to write a feedback? I stayed with Helga and the kids for two months in the beginning of the year. And what can I say? It felt like home. All of them have been so nice and cool from the first second. The tasks were very easy. Clean a little bit, spend time with the kids and the most important one: take care of the laundry. They
… read more were always happy when I baked some cakes, muffins or waffles. I had a lot of freetime and I was able see lot of places or just to relax in front of the big tv. It was no problem to get the car.
We spent a lot of time together and it was so nice around the easter time. Also Helgas sister Hrönn is such a nice person. We had a lot of fun together.

I’m so glad that my first Workaway was with Helga’ family. I have stayed with this lovely family for 3 months and never feel like I’m working. I felt like I am one of the member of this family. Helga always told me to be no stress with the work. I really enjoyed to play with the kids. We baked cakes together, run in the big lawn, went cycling and
… read more was having so much fun. They are very energetic, funny and cute. All of them are good kids so I’m happy to stay with them. Also, Helga drove me to different amazing places, such as Hraunfossar and Krauma. It is such a warm action because I don’t have driving license and can’t visit many places.
Another best memory is I have seen many times of northern light, just outside the house!! This place is quiet, peaceful and not much light pollution. I can’t describe how amazing is that I just opened the door of my room and the northern light was over my head. Staying 3 months here is definitely one of the most memorable thing in my life.

I stayed at Helga's place of a period of 1 month and would have loved to stay longer.
Helga and the whole family ( the kids included) made me have such a great time and felt very welcome from the start. :)
During my stay my main tasks was to help out on the house, babysitting and general maintenance ( cooking, gardening, cleaning)

… read more time with the kids so much i started missing them from the second I left ... they are so cute and lively, can't be bored around them and i want to point out that i've learned a lot from their creativity.
I also had a great time cooking, as i love cooking for others, Helga and the kids were nothing but encouraging and happy with everything i came out with !
Thank you so much Helga for having me and for everything you have done for me and I hope we can meet again in the future!
