    Description

Hello again! We are underway with restarting the farm after a sabbatical and are ready to get into some summer project action again! This next chapter is focused on carpentry and wood working over the summer as we restart the poultry operations, the apiary, renovate the farm house, and a few other initiatives around the farm.
We need some workawayers with carpentry skills.
We are about to thin out 3 invasive trees at the farm and will need some help with prep, as well as processing the down wood. some ideas:
    - make some poles for fencing goals
    - and the fun part: Merchandising! we need some products to sell in our fall markets: coasters and cutting boards
    - we may even need to work on building some bee boxes.
    - maybe we can prep some logs for mushroom growing in the fall. I believe they have to cure for a few weeks before use so may be ideal time for getting logs prepared.

We are harvesting the trees right before the new moon so ideal window for carpenters to arrive is the week of July 7th or 14th. Ideal to stay for one or two months.

The farm experience will also include working with chickens and bees. Plus, the farm is a business partner with local coffee/icecream shop and we're working hard to bridge together working on both as possibly a shared workaway experience with the farm.

Farm is very very remote right next to a rocky local beach thats not very populated; it is truly a hidden oasis if you're looking to be part of a farm team that's growing and doing more community outreach. We're really big on growing local food security and getting us back to a more island indigenous diet.

Having your own transportation is vital for getting around and for getting to the nearest market store if staying for a month +.

Still working to get lodging more comfy but right now it may be in a room shared with my farm small office. It is air conditioned. Can do tent camping as well, tent provided. Definitely humble living arrangements with access to bathroom and small full kitchen. It works if you are fine with a comfortable bed to sleep in and spend most of the time outside and around vs indoors on a screen.

Please note, June 1st began Hurricane Season. So everyone's plans may change, plan to be flexible. And still come if you are a flexible person, down for a windy ride, and ready to be part of an island community with our pros and cons.

Helpers will learn about tropical organic farming, homesteading skills, fishing skills, tropical foraging skills, composting, taking care of chickens, beekeeping, farmers market experience and foundational organic farming techniques in hillside farming while also experiencing the local island culture and enjoying the beautiful scenery of our islands.

But the main focus is in the marketing of food, of a farm. so we'll have great sales and marketing campaigns and projects we'll be working on, including contributing to the ongoing farm documentary.

Marketing help needed for growing farm markets to grow more food. The Mandahl spot is where we have new and old rock terraces of my great grandfather who use to farm this land. This is where we have our 60 chickens and bee hives. Lots of content to work with.

Most ideal to commute. But if needed to stay on the farm then the living arrangement is tent living with a shared kitchen and bathroom. Its basic living on a farm, very outdoorsy, very breezy and chilly at night. you can bring tent or we can provide one. There is a small apartment onsite where everyone uses a traditional shower and kitchen but we are working on building out an outdoor kitchen and shower house for workawayers. I must confess I'm not that great of a chef so rather than provide meals, I can provide basic staple food ingredients (pastas, rices, seasonings, oils, eggs, oatmeal) and everyone is up to their own cooking skills. Food items not included and is up to you is your protein, your dairy, your fruits and vegetables. When possible, I'll contribute group meals. I make great crepes!

Farm is located in a very secluded rocky beach area on the northside of the island. Our two major port towns are Charlotte Amalie and Redhook to explore.
