  Description

  Help take care of our 3 year old daughter, Layla, and her baby brother, Cohen. Look after a beautiful forest and help keep things running smoothly in an off-grid geodesic dome house. With plenty of time to go surfing, hiking or explore the nearby Sintra park. We host monthly concerts in our own studio and have a workshop for working on art projects.
  
  My wife, daughter and I are French and American and moved to Portugal 2 years ago. We are based on two neighboring properties in nature, 5 minutes from a renowned local surf beach, 15 min from Ericeira and 25 min from Sintra; 50 min from Lisbon.
  
  On one of our properties, we host a forest school for children ages 3-6, where our daughter attends on weekdays from 9am-5pm. On this property we are also building a dome house where we will be living and have a smaller dome for events, immersive journeys, music, yoga as well as a wood fire sauna.
  
  On our neighboring property (10min walk), we rent a small house and have installed a caravan which will be your accommodation during your time with us. The caravan has running water, electricity, internet, and an outdoor compost bathroom, and is a good distance from the house so you have your private space - it is effectively a stand-alone studio for a single person, surrounded by trees.

  We are French and American and speak both languages. The other families who attend the forest school on our property are all international. Our forest is a point of passage for many locals, as such, there is plenty of opportunity to practice your Portuguese.

  Aide

  We are looking for someone who loves kids, wants to be in nature, is flexible and comfortable with a variety of tasks. In exchange we provide a beautiful living arrangement in nature and time in a welcoming family environment. Depending on interest there is also space for involvement in the projects we have ongoing on the property.
  
  We are looking for someone to integrate our family and help with the running of our household and forest, around 20 hours a week. Just as you would in a co-living arrangements, we like sharing tasks so everyday is a bit different (ie. everyday someone different can cook, so the meals change).
  
  This will include:
  
  On 3x weekdays :
  
  - From 5h30 to 8pm, share the evening routine with us: prepare the evening meal, spend time with Layla/Cohen, help with the pre-bedtime routine (bath), helping with light household chores
  - During the day, looking after Cohen for 1-2hrs (while Layla is at school), 2x a week
  - Evening babysitting, 1x a week
  
  On weekends:
  - Look after Layla and Cohen in the morning (10am-1pm)
  
  Flexibile schedule:
  - Forest maintenance: getting rid of invasive species, looking after irrigation, planting new trees, cutting wood for the sauna, etc
  
  Regarding food:
  - We eat a predominantly vegan diet, sometimes vegetarian
  
  Regarding our daughter:
  She is well behave and loves to be active (climbing, riding her bike, going for walks), as well as imaginary play; we are looking for someone who will be happy to take her on active outings and also play with her at home.
  
  Regarding flexibility:
  Occasionally our week schedule can change. Yannick hosts various events and can sometimes need to travel. Weather conditions may also impact the timing of activities (surf). Should we need to make changes, we will always discuss and ensure everyone's needs are taken into account.
  
  We provide housing, food, access to a car, surfboards, mountain bike and a weekly stipend.

  Hébergement

  You will have your own on-site caravan (7m long - fully kitted). The caravan is spacious and has a lovely view overlooking the forest. The caravan has running water, electricity, internet, and an outdoor bathroom, and is separate from the house so you have your private space - it is effectively a stand-alone studio for a single person.
  
  Regarding meals, you have your own kitchen and a weekly food allowance so you can buy what you prefer (we can also consolidate our shopping when we go to the market for fresh produce). Our car or bicycle can also be borrowed if you want to head to the local market/supermarkets. On the whole, you will be mostly autonomous for dining.

  When not helping, you can borrow our car to visit the nearby area, or borrow a surfboard and hit the beach which is a short walk from the forest. We are at the heart of a World Surf Reserve. There are many breaks depending on conditions and levels. The forest is located above Praia de Vigia (a beautiful wild beach) and 5 min from Praia de Sao Juliao (a good beginner beach). We also have mountain bikes you can borrow or go for long trail runs.
  For city activities, we are located 15 min from Ericeira, 25 min from Sintra, and 50 min from Lisbon by car.
