Hello! We live in an old manor house on an estuary in Snowdonia National Park, and we take in B&B guests in three of the rooms. We could do with a hand doing breakfasts, some cleaning and possibly a bit of outside work, looking after the dog and fish! We're currently looking for someone from the middle of May 2026 to the end of June. Basic cooking skills would be needed.
Ideally we’d be looking for single person. We can offer you all meals, your own room, bathroom and sitting room (see photos), there is a local college that offers a weekly English class if needed, glorious walking routes in the mountains and some bikes to use. Please note that since Brexit we can only take people who have permission to live and work in the UK.
We’d like you to help with us for about five hours per day, and you’d have the rest of the time to relax, explore the beaches and mountains nearby, or attend classes.
We are on a public transport route with buses to Dolgellau and Barmouth. There is a train station in Barmouth that links to the rest of Wales and to a mainline route to Birmingham.

The nearby town of Dolgellau has a college of further education which offers summer schools in many subjects, including Welsh. There is also the world-famous Coed-y-Brenin mountain biking centre five miles up the road. We are a couple of hours from both Manchester and Liverpool, and Birmingham is also accessible by train. We are within the Snowdonia National Park, and here are gorgeous walks to do and tracks to follow!
Workawayers will be given a combination of accommodation and money that will be equal to or exceed the minimum wage.

Aide
We are looking for either single person to help us in late spring. The main duties are helping in the B&B, making breakfasts, clearing up, washing up and getting rooms ready. A driving licence valid in the UK would be helpful. In addition to this, we have a dog who needs a little looking after, and a large marine fish tank!

Autres infos...
Snowdonia is Wales’ largest national park, and there are many mountains, hills, rivers and beaches to explore. It is a rural area so there are no large cities nearby, but the towns of Dolgellau and Barmouth are within easy reach on the bus. Both have many shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Local areas of historical interest include castles to the north and south, King Arthur’s labyrinth, slate caverns, and museums and art galleries.

We worked here for a month in the summer of 2023 and it was great. Everyone is very friendly and nice. The work was not demanding, so we had enough time to explore the nature. The place is amazing, amazing nature, a short distance from the sea. We felt at home there and at the same time we got to know a lot of great new places. Definitely… read more recommend!

I stayed here for six weeks. There were two other workawayers here when I arrived but they left before me so I was alone for a bit as well. The highlight of my time was definitely getting to work with Sophie and Marilyn who were both so welcoming and kind. They taught me so much and were so patient and generous. We even went out for a couple of… read more meals together. I enjoyed getting to know them and they made my first workaway experience feel like a dream come true.
The work started either at 8 or 9 on most days with two days off a week. For the first half-hour, I would set up the dining room with fruit, coffee, etc. while Marilyn or Sophie would start cooking. then we would work until about 11 serving the guests and cleaning up the kitchen and dining room. Most days there would be plenty of leftovers to eat including waffles, porridge, chicken sausages, and hash browns. The second part was cleaning and refreshing the rooms. This included doing the beds, taking down any dirty dishes, adding coffee, tea, and biscuits, dusting, hoovering, mopping, and cleaning the bathrooms. Usually, we finished between 1 and 2 pm. On some nights I would also have to lock all the doors, put the dog away and listen for the bell in case any guests needed anything.
During my time off I did a lot of exploring of the area. There are several footpaths just across the road which I took the dog, Meggie on sometimes. Across the bridge is the Mawddach Trail. Unfortunately, it costs 30p to cross the bridge. I enjoyed walking or cycling on the trail to Dolgellau which is an hour away on foot. There are several nice café’s there, a co-op and a spar and a very nice bakery. If you cycle the other way you can get to Barmouth and Fairbourne.
Transport is good but the buses are quite expensive. There were two bikes there which I used when I could. Cadair Idris, Harlech, and Porthmadog aren’t too far on the bus.
The accommodation was better than anything I could have imagined. There was a good-sized kitchen with a gas stove, oven, and microwave. A big living room with a tv that had lots of films on it, a bathroom and two bedrooms, one double and one single. I loved staying there so much I didn’t want to leave.
Thank you so much for everything!

I've spent about six weeks at this place; it was (very low) season, so there wasn't much to do (not to mention the horrible weather), but staying with Sophie and Marilyn made my experience here easy and enjoyable. Thanks to them I've learned how to clean at a very high standard levels, but most of all I've enjoyed their company, the chats, laughs… read more and conversations that we had together. Marilyn is very cheerful (and very good at making impressions) and Sophie has an exceptional attention to details.
The property is located in the middle of nowhere, so if the sky is clear you can see a stunning starry sky at night. The surroundings and the scenario are simply amazing, you can go for an infinite walk just outside the property, so staying here is a wonderful opportunity for everyone that loves walking in the nature.
The accomodation is very luxurious, most of the time I was sharing the upper apartment of the cottage with Sophie, and I'll always cherish the time, especially early in the morning, that we spent together talking.
Everyone at the property is really kind and helpful, and I'll never thank everyone (Sophie, Marilyn, Thaer, who is the "boss") enough for all the help and support throughout my quite troubled journey in Wales.

I spent March at this place and had a wonderful time. The work wasn't hard and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I somehow managed to hurt my foot on my first day, but they helped my out and I would like to thank everyone for that. There wasn't so much work since it was only a beginning of the season, but there is always something to do… read more even when there are no guests staying.
Due to my injury I couldn't climb as much as I wanted, though in my last weeks I tried some nearby mountains, and they were just stunning. There is a footpath just outside the B&B and a bus stop quite close, but I recommend cycling since there is a couple of great roads on the other side of the bridge. There is a flat one by the estuary and a hilly one by the bottom of Cadair Idris.
Thank you for everything, and I hope to come back one day :)

I spent almost 3 weeks at this place. It's a beautiful, tidy place. People were really nice to me, they treated me like one of their own. Work wasn't hard, it was about routine. I got perfect acommodation and also allowance for food, which was so generous, that I could save some money for me (unfortunately on my journey back home, some of airport… read more staff stole the money from my baggage, so keep it with you!). If you're looking for a peaceful place, where you can hike and spent some time with yourself and your thoughts, this is a perfect choice for you. But I recommend at least 1 month stay as a minimum. It's better not only for you, but for the staff as well:)

We spent a month here and had a good time, and perfect weather :) The B&B is quite luxurious, the guests were always friendly and the people we worked with as well. Though we often needed to work more than 5h a day, in exchange we got first class accomodation and an allowance for buying food. Everyone at BH was also eager to help with information… read more about the area and walks, and gave us lifts into the nearest towns. Thank you for the opportunity to experience Snowdonia, which made it all worth it! :)
