Description
The Ranch is a small horse ranch that offers various length trail rides to the general public. We also work with troubled youth using equine assisted counseling and wilderness therapy. We live in a beautiful part of northwestern Ontario surrounded by endless wilderness, rivers and lakes. We are only a few yrs old and very much in the infancy of our business. There are alot of ongoing and future projects we need help with.

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
We live very close to Thunder Bay Ontario which is the hub of Northwestern Ontario. There is much to see and do and experience here. Explore our Canadian history at Old Fort William or learn about First Nation culture at many of the local pow wows. Hiking and boating are very popular leisure activities.
At the ranch you will learn horsemanship and the daily routines that go into operating this kind of business. We are also open to what you might have to share with us. Your way of life or any particular skill you might have that would benefit us.Aide
We are looking for motivated individuals who are able to do physical work who do not mind getting dirty. Must like working outdoors and with animals. Able to be left alone at times with a project. Work might include fencing, trail clearing, gardening, yard work, carpentry, working with animals etc. Horse experience is a definite asset.

Hébergement
We have a spare room in the house. We may also have a camper available at times. Meals are provided unless you prefer to make or buy your own.
Autres infos...
There is absolutely no alcohol or drugs allowed on the ranch. As we are dealing with youth with addictions we can not have anything around that would hinder them in their recovery and healing journey. Smoking is allowed in a designated area. No smoking is allowed in any of the buildings or in the bush. Fires are a very real threat.
On your time off you are welcome to explore what Thunder Bay has to offer. Transportation is available but very limited. Time spent camping or boating can be arranged.
Covid: We are still taking in workawayers but they must be from a place where they have been socially isolated or quarantined for two weeks before coming here. If we have youth on the ranch we are working with at the time of your visit a criminal record check may be required.Informations complémentaires

Jeff is a cool person. He didn't mind me being a vegetarian. We cooked lots of meals together, he took me riding, snowshoeing and to church (I wanted to go, if you don't, you obviously don't have to).
The work he requires is super easy: feeding the horses, cows, chickens and taking care… read more
