    Description

We live in the north of Norway, in a small village called Valnesfjord. Mathilde (38) works as a commercial director in a technology company, and Håvard (42) works as a co-liver at a youth home. Together, we have three boys aged 6, 11, and 12 years old.

Our family enjoys music (we have a dedicated music room in the house), playing, swimming, spending time in nature, cooking, and participating in various activities. We also love visiting friends and, when we find the time, curling up on the sofa with good food and a series.

We have a busy and active lifestyle, running a self-service accommodation, a seasonal Christmas shop, growing arctic vegetables and herbs, and managing a cabin project in the forest. We are looking for individuals who can assist us with various indoor and outdoor projects. There's always something happening here, so flexibility and a proactive attitude are essential.

In 2024, we are looking for a couple in a relationship or friends who can help us with our cabin project from the end of August and throughout the autumn. The help will involve painting and simple carpentry tasks.

Is this something for you? We look forward to hearing from you.

    Cabin Project Tasks

We are looking for a couple, friends, or individuals from the end of August and throughout the autumn to assist with our exciting cabin project. This is a wonderful opportunity for those who enjoy working with their hands and have a creative spirit.

The tasks at the cabin will include painting, building a railing for the balcony, and creatively decorating the annex. These projects are essential to enhance the beauty and functionality of our cabin, providing a warm and inviting space for guests and family alike.

    Painting Tasks:
We need help with painting both the exterior and interior of the cabin. This includes choosing the right colors to blend with the natural surroundings and ensure the cabin remains protected from the harsh northern climate. Your role will involve preparing surfaces, applying primer and paint, and ensuring a smooth, professional finish. We provide all the necessary tools and materials, and any specific paint or supplies required will be purchased new.

    Carpentry Help:
One of the main tasks will be building a sturdy and aesthetically pleasing railing for the balcony. This project requires basic carpentry skills and an eye for detail. You will work with wood, measuring, cutting, and assembling the railing to ensure it meets safety standards and enhances the cabin's overall look. We will provide all the materials and tools necessary for this task.

    Creative Interior Decorating:
The annex offers a blank canvas for your creativity. We aim to create a cozy and unique space using a mix of new items and upcycled materials. This involves selecting furniture, arranging the space for optimal comfort and functionality, and adding personal touches that reflect the rustic charm of our cabin. We value sustainable practices, so items that can be reused or creatively repurposed are highly encouraged. This not only adds character but also aligns with our commitment to sustainability.

We believe that bringing new life to old items through creativity and effort adds a special charm to the space. Your contributions in decorating the annex will be instrumental in making it a delightful and unique place for our guests.

We are excited to welcome individuals who are enthusiastic, creative, and ready to dive into these projects. Your work will be instrumental in transforming our cabin into a more beautiful, functional, and inviting place. We look forward to hearing from you and sharing this journey together.

We have a gym and a musicroom in the house. If you like nature and want to explore the north of Norway, the village Valnesfjord (where we live) is very autentic. We live five minutes walking from trainstation and buss. The closest city is Bodø (35 min train/buss)

If you want to expiriense the rural «back to basic» lifestyle we have a small cabin beside the cabin that we are renovating. This small cabin has one room for sleeping and one toiletroom. It is also possible for the workaway to live in the cabin If its interesting, while doing different projects there 😊
