Description
We are a mountain lodge / refuge in the Ecuadorian Andes. We are located on the Volcano Cayambe at an altitude of 3,600 m above sea level. We work with Norma, our cook. She is from the chimba community. she will be more than happy to share her knowledge with you. We offer activities such as rock climbing, horseback riding, acclimatization stays and a number of beautiful hikes in the magnificent paramo ecosystem around Cayambe. We work closely together with the local community of La Chimba to preserve the sensitive and ecologicially important environment we live in.

We are working with employees that are locals of the community of La Chimba who can teach you about their history and ways of life in Ecuador. You will be able to join projects of the community and experience the traditional and authentic life in the Andes. You can learn about the paramo ecosystem and the animals and plants that live in it.
Aide
During your stay at our lodge you will be helping with general duties like housekeeping, chopping timber, bringing in firewood, baking bread or feeding the dogs and chickens. Sometimes there is some maintenance and gardening around the lodge to be done. We are also looking for creative people to help us with painting murals and take nice photos of our place for social media.

Hébergement
You will be accomodated in a 8 person dorm room, but elevated higher than the guests beds. Your beds will have a nice view of Cayambe. Check the pictures for reference.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included. The volunteer does not pay for any meals

We do not have a fixed schedule regarding days on/off since we do not have guests every day. Every day is different. If there is not much to do, you are free to just chill at the lodge, go on hikes, go climbing or go out for an excursion around the area.
