    Description

    Hello Workawayers!

My name is Stacy , a 23-year-old Kenyan. A final year law student and a lover of change. I am also a recently young football coach and founder of a soccer academy within Oyugis town( with the help of amazing workawayers)

I take pride in being the only known female football coach in Oyugis town. 😊

    OUR TEEN MOTHERS PROGRAM.

I am the founder of a Teen Mothers Empowerment Program, which has enabled me interact and be part of the lives of more than 40 vulnerable girls and their babies since I was 17 years.

All our programs are currently based within Oyugis, Kenya ( though our education scholarship and teen mothers programs covers vulnerable girls from other countries as well).

As a youth run community, We strive to impact the lives of our youths, through funding teen mothers education( currently funding the education of 24 girls), providing a rescue center for some of our beneficiaries who don't have a place to stay with their babies( currently hosting 3 girls abd the babies plus 2 who joins during school holidays). And mentoring them to being the best they can ever be.

The program is born out of a need to respond to the rising cases of teenage pregnancies, early marriages, and school dropouts in our region, which often lead to cycles of poverty.

We host them with their babies, provide shelter and all needs before we reintegrate them back to the society and fully equiped young women.

    OUR SOCCER ACADEMY

We recently started our soccer academy last year in August. It's a result of a need to engage the teen mothers in other fun activities apart from book work.

As well as the need to create more awareness and rally people behind the fight against teen mothers stigmatization.

The academy has since grown, and has provided a platform for some of our talented teen mum's to express themselves, interact with the wider community and once more feel safe and a sense of belonging in a community they once feared out of rejection and stigmatization.

Today the academy has grown and we have so far incorporated around 60 young talented girls and boys from the age of 7 to 25 who through sports have formed their own tinny beautiful community( youths for youths😁).

We are currently having senior boys team, senior girls team, U17 boys team, U15 boys team, U 11 team. With 3 official local coaches and 2 senior players who acts as Assistant coaches .

The top leadership/organizers of the academy's activities are once young , talented and passionate volunteers who are currently part of the academy. They help fund it's programs, they offer coaching lessons, they organize tournaments and they have carried the dream and made it really big beautiful international community.❤️

    OUR SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP

This year, together with the assistance of Mark( who came through Workaway), the club has managed to secure partnership Opportunity with a senior school in Kenya known for football.

Our best players from the academy that comes from humble background, now have a chance to study for free at the school while playing for the school team during school going days.

This program has won more love from the parents and community at large as the kids get a chance to take charge of their own lives at early age and learn responsibility and self reliance.

In exchange , our club now exclusively runs the schools football club, sending our coaches to coach their players, organizing joint training camps, donating balls, boots, uniforms to the schools club and expanding our football academy to different countries.

CLUBS FOOTBALL PITCH.( RESIDENTIAL FOOTBALL ACADEMY)

As an Academy, our recent project is raising funds and resources to acquire a permanent full size standardized football pitch for the club. A project we intent to get done with this year.

We are working on having the first residential camp in oyugis Kenya, where our players can come together during school holidays, live as a community and perfect their skills every single day.
The camp will also be a safe space for our vulnerable teen mothers who are in need of care and protection.

Keeping our dreams alive ( Be the best football academy in Homabay County) and produce international players, cause YES WE CAN 💙🇰🇪

VOLUNTEERS IMPACTFUL ROLE IN THE ACADEMY
Volunteers have been instrumental in making this dream alive.

The idea of incorporating sports with academics came from Oscar.
Emil being the first volunteer to coach the girls, together with Benny.
Aki , was the first volunteer coach for the U17 boys team.

Later Jacob, was the link to the UK team, and also lead the team through registration, and participation in county tournaments, and matches with top teams in the country.

Mark, became very instrumental in the school partnership, seeing to it that our first team of players were successfully admitted at the school.

The volunteers are also part of our football WhatsApp group where they help run the academy even while away.

VOLUNTEERS IMPACTFUL ROLE IN THE TEEN MOTHERS EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM

Our volunteers such as , Erika, Lou, Johanna, Benny among others, have also been instrumental in looking after the babies while the mothers go to school.

They also help teach the girls subjects such as Biology, English, Mathematics, Chemistry, History, CRE.

Some like Lou, helped in organizing the school mentorship and sanitary drive programs, farming, mentorship, counselling among others.

We look forward to hosting you and having you be part of our community.
