We run a family project managed by three brothers. It is a land of 3.300h located in the Andes Mountains, near Nevados de Chillán, in the region of Ñuble. This land is blessed by nature and abundance: old native forest, wild fauna, rivers, ponds and waterfalls, creating a whole valley of pureness and disconnection from the world (and re connection with ourselves and nature). We hold a project of conservation, education and tourism for the past 5 years.
The brothers are Matías, Lucas and Nico. Matías spend many years involved in marketing and publicity, as well in furniture making, having his own workshop where he designed and build furniture for different companies. After this, he decided to focus on la Jungla, starting to activate the place and working hardly and connected into this job. Lucas is an architect, with a lot of knowledge in Flora and conservation, as well as sports. Nico is also an architect, who has also been developing natural building projects in different parts of the world, working with an organization who holds intensive workshops of cob building. The three of us are very open, we enjoy travelling and sharing with different people and cultures, and we love nature, hiking, and protecting this place.
This place is unique, its a whole natural park for ourselves. We often have friends and volunteers helping out, as well as doing hikes, expeditions, and office works. Currently we are focused on a project for protecting the Huemul and its habitat - an animal who is in a highly risk of extinction and that there are still some of them around this place. It is one of the three native deers of Chile. Also we are working with Conaf managing the forest in a sustainable way and getting some trails for hiking done properly. And lately, we have been rewilding, by inserting rehabilitated native animals back to their habitat, which has been an amazing experience, we just released back to nature a Guiña and a Pudú.
We have a large amount of trap cameras up in the mountains and forest as we are getting actualized data about the native fauna that lives in this place, so every once in a while we go on the mission to collect the information.
Douring the summer we hold different activities to gather people: workshops, expeditions, and we open the park for tourism (camping). For new year we make a music festival called Festival Peumayen, where we gather friends and family, artists, live music, DJs and different activities such as sweat lodged (temazcal), acroyoga, open talks, and guided hikes. We really love to share this place with friends and like-minded people, always aiming to respect and protect this sacred place.
La Jungla is full of surprises, and we are here to protect this place and make it a space for people to come and experience the reconnection with nature. We want to develop this project through our life, and eventually have a space to host people, scientifics, artists, workshops, meetings, gatherings, tours, rock climbing, canopy, horseback riding, skiing, as well as educational programs with children and adults, among many other dreams.
For the past 5 years we have been very active, having a bussy summer of building and activities, receiving people who come to camp and visit the place and its many natural attractions, holding the festival, and being able to live in the place through all the seasons.

Here, you will get to spend a time in a natural park that is unique, a Nothofagus Forest, very special from the south of Chile. You will be able to discover this place and be in touch with nature.
You could also learn about natural building, flora identification, wood working, and out-of-the-grid lifestyle. As well as the things we are doing, and the institution we are working with. Sometimes we go up the mountains to check our trap cameras to see if there is some new data about wild fauna.
We need help in many different aspects.
Usually, we stay in the lower part of the land: La Pajarera. This is a place where we have some mountain cabins, the common kitchen, toilets and our workshop. In this place, we are always mantaining it and some times building new structures. The help needed here is to keep the place organized and beautiful, adding arts and crafts, as well as repairing some buildings, sometimes with natural techniques. We always cook for everyone and eat together, sharing this task among all the volunteers. Sometimes, you will have to stay in this place by yourself, specially when we have visits form other institutions and we need to go on the field.
Outside La Pajarera we need help in maintaining the trails, creating new ones, creating signs for the trails, and specially for the new year festival, preparing the site to hold this festival, which means preparing the stage, toilets, kitchen, among other activities.
We enjoy working outdoor, but sometimes we need to get into the office mood and work in our computers, so we need volunteers to be independent at this point. Having clear communication is the key.
Besides working hard, we often do hikes to get to the waterfalls and ponds, have a swim, do a picnic and chill.
We are always open to the skills volunteers have to offer, so if you have any suggestion, we would love to hear it.
We have a small cabin that -when available- can be used by volunteers. Beside that, camping is most common. There are many cool spots to camp around La Pajarera, so if you like to have your privacy and be away from noise, it is possible always.
There is the Kitchen, where we prepare food and spend the time around.
And we have a cob building which are the toilets, with a warm shower. If you like cold, there is a stream of water a couple of meters away where you can have a natural bath into nature.
For food, we usually have a schedule were we take turns to cook. We all love cooking, so usually everyone wants to do it.
Our diet is mainly vegetarian, but there is no problem if you eat meat, but we do not do it everyday.
Jungla Peumayemn is located 1 and a half our away from Chillan (city). From Chillan, you can take a bus to Las Trancas, and jump off in Pellines: this place is 30 - 40 minutes away from La Jungla (dirt road).
We are located up in the mountain, so we are not everyday going into town. We can pick you either in Chillan or in Pellines, depending on the schedule we are holding.
In the time off, you can walk around the forest or we can together do some more specific hikes, and be able to see some beauties of this land. There is many things to do inside La Jungla, but if you want to go out, we can recommend you some places around, even some places near the ocean.
