Description
Hello! My name is Mona, I am 23 years old, and studying economics online. My brother, Rune is 25, and working at a factory. Our property is our family cabin at Drevvatne in Northern Norway. It is a place where my brother and I spent much of our childhood, and it has been an important place for our family for many years.
A few years ago, our father became ill, and since then we haven’t been able to spend as much time taking care of the cabin and the area around it as we used to. Over the years, quite a few small things have therefore been neglected. It makes me sad to see a place that means so much to us slowly lose some of the life it once had.
I see Workaway as a nice way of giving the place a new chapter while still holding on to what makes it special to our family. I would love for the workawayers who stay with us to become a small part of that, bringing their own ideas, food, stories and traditions into everyday life at the cabin. Hopefully we can create new memories and give the place some new life, without losing the history and character that are already there.
This is my first time hosting, so I am starting out by seeing what kind of response I get and whether I find people who seem like a good fit for the place and for us. If it feels like the right match, I would be happy to go ahead and welcome Workawayers to Drevvatne.
At the moment, I am looking for help from around mid-October. -

Drevvatne is a small and quiet place, so I think it may be especially nice for a couple or friends travelling together. There isn’t that much that happens in the immediate area, so it can be good to have someone to share the experience with. Solo travelers are of course also welcome, especially if you enjoy nature and want a break from busy everyday life!
The cabin has no Wi-Fi or a TV, but there is mobile data coverage. And i can always share data from my phone if its needed. Life here is simple and peaceful, which is part of the reason why I like the place so much.
The train station is only about a five-minute walk from the cabin. From there, you can travel south to Mosjøen in around 25 minutes or north to Mo i Rana in 45 minutes. Larger cities such as Bodø and Trondheim are also accessible by train, taking four and five and a half hours. There is also a bus connecting Mosjøen and Drevvatne. Both the bus and the train only goes a couple of times a day, so planning ahead is needed.
There is a small local grocery store about a 10–15 minute walk from the cabin, and has all the basic things you need. There is also a little corner in the store called «kaffekroken» where locals often sit down for a coffe and a chat. Perfect for if you´re interested in meeting other locals and practicing norwegian, For larger supermarkets, cafés, restaurants and other activities, Mosjøen is the closest town.
I have been a workawayer myself, and what i valued the most from it was the social aspect of it. You get to know people quickly when you move into their home, and you form a different kind of bond than you would just meeting while travelling. I would love to show you around the area of Drevvatne and Mosjøen, show you our beautiful nature and the mountains nearby. If you like hiking this is the perfect area to be. Having a car would make it easier for you to get around and reach more of the hiking trails, but it is not a must. I’m also a big foodie and love trying new dishes. I am still in the learning process so I am definitely no expert yet, but i would love it if you could teach me how to make some dishes from your home country! -
Aide
There are quite a few different projects around the cabin and property, including light painting, gardening, cleaning and other small creative projects.

I’m happy to help with Norwegian if you’d like to learn. I’ve always found languages interesting and enjoy learning from other people. I’m currently learning Spanish myself, so I’d love it if we could do a language exchange and practice together! -
Hébergement
You will have your own private bedroom in the cabin. The room has a bunk bed as well as a small additional bed, so it can comfortably be used by one person, a couple or two friends travelling together.
We provide three meals a day. I will usually prepare dinner, while breakfast and lunch will be fairly traditional Norwegian meals, bread with different toppings, or as we call it in norway «pålegg», yoghurt, porridge and other simple foods.
If you prefer to prepare your own meals, you are also welcome to use the kitchen. -
