    Description

We live in one of the loveliest areas of Vienna, right next to the Old Danube, a beautiful and peaceful part of the city and one of Vienna’s biggest recreational areas. It’s a wonderful place to enjoy nature while still being very well connected to the city centre.

Especially in the warmer months, there is so much to do here. You can swim, go for walks or bike rides, try different water sports, or simply relax by the water. There are lots of lovely spots along the river, some with little beaches and even a beach-club atmosphere. It sometimes feels like being on holiday without leaving Vienna!

Just a short distance from our apartment, there is also a large and modern shopping centre with plenty of shops, restaurants, cafés and a cinema. Public transport connections are excellent, so it is very easy to explore Vienna and get around without a car.

In the colder months, there are also plenty of things to do nearby. If you enjoy cold-water swimming, there are local groups you can join for a refreshing dip in the Old Danube. When it gets cold enough and conditions allow, ice skating on the frozen Old Danube can be a very special experience. There are also indoor swimming pools and ice-skating rinks nearby. And if you prefer to stay warm, the large shopping centre close to our home offers plenty of things to do, with shops, restaurants, cafés, a cinema and other entertainment options. And of course, a must during the colder months is visiting one of Vienna’s traditional coffee houses and enjoying a warm drink with a slice of Sachertorte.

Vienna is a city full of music, culture and history, and there really is something for everyone. Throughout the year there are many events, festivals, concerts and cultural activities, and quite a lot of them are free. Our neighbourhood itself is green, relaxed and safe, which makes it a very pleasant place to live.

I live here with my four-year-old son. I work as a teacher and my son goes to kindergarten. We enjoy being out and about, meeting friends, exploring the city and spending time outdoors. But we also appreciate quiet time at home and love relaxing together on the couch with a good movie.

We would be happy to welcome someone who would enjoy becoming part of our everyday life for a while, discovering Vienna and experiencing both the lively city and the relaxed, green side of it.

When my schedule allows, we can of course spend some time together and do things in and around Vienna. At the same time, you will have plenty of independence and opportunities to create your own social life here.

Vienna is a very international city and there are many ways to meet people, depending on your age and interests. You can find all kinds of groups and communities online, from sports and language exchanges to cultural activities and international meet-ups. There are also many local events, neighbourhood centres and other meeting places where you can connect with people.

I used to be a Workawayer myself and have travelled quite a lot, so I know what it is like to stay with people in another country. I am curious about other cultures, languages and ways of life and enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds.

Languages are also an important part of our home. I speak German, Italian, English, Spanish and Dutch. My son speaks German and understands Italian. It would therefore be helpful if you already spoke at least a little German or Italian, especially for communicating with him. I would also be happy to help you practise your language skills during your stay.

I also really enjoy cooking and love food from different countries. We could sometimes cook together, exchange recipes or you could introduce us to something from your home country.

I think cultural exchange often happens naturally in everyday life, so I’m sure we will find other little things we can share, teach each other and learn from one another along the way.

Your main role will be spending time with my four-year-old son and looking after him when I need some support. Most of the childcare will be in the evenings and at weekends, although we will arrange the schedule so that you still have enough free time to enjoy Vienna and make your own plans.

On two mornings per week, I would also ask you to accompany my son to kindergarten, which is very close to our home.

My son is a happy, cheerful and playful child. He loves going to playgrounds, building with Lego, creating train tracks, drawing and painting. If you genuinely enjoy spending time with young children, playing and being creative with them, you could be a great fit for us.

There is no additional housework expected. I would simply ask you to keep your own room tidy and to help keep the shared spaces clean. We will share these small everyday tasks.

My schedule can be quite busy, so I may not always have a lot of time for activities together. However, I’ll be happy to share my favourite places in Vienna with you and give you tips for parks, cafés, restaurants, events and other things to see and do. When time allows, we may also explore some places together.

You will also have a second bicycle available to use during your stay. Vienna is a great city to explore by bike, and from our area you can enjoy beautiful cycling routes along the Danube and easily discover different parts of the city on your own.

  • Hébergement

    Hébergement

We live in a comfortable three-room apartment, and you will have your own private room during your stay. Your room is located directly to the left when you enter the apartment, while the bathroom and separate toilet are on the right.

We have an open-plan kitchen and living room, which we will of course share, and you are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare your own meals. There is also a shared rooftop terrace in our building, which is a nice place to sit outside and relax.

Our neighbourhood is very green and almost car-free, with plenty of outdoor spaces nearby where you can relax, go for a walk or do some exercise.

Please note that regular meals are not included in the stay, so you would need to buy and prepare most of your own food. From time to time, I’ll be happy to provide some basics or snacks such as fruit and vegetables, and of course we may occasionally cook or eat something together, but this is not something I can guarantee on a regular basis.

As meals are not included, I would expect around 15 hours of help per week, rather than a higher number of hours. The exact schedule can be discussed and organised together so that it works well for both of us.

As mentioned before, Vienna offers endless possibilities for your free time. Whether you are interested in culture, music, sports, nightlife, nature, cafés or simply relaxing by the water, there is always something to do and discover.

You will be welcome to use our second bicycle during your stay, which is a great way to explore the neighbourhood, the Danube and other parts of Vienna. Public transport is also excellent, so getting around the city is easy and convenient, even without a car.

As we will be sharing our home, and especially because there is a young child in the household whom you will also be responsible for at times, it is very important to me that you are respectful, reliable and considerate. I am looking for someone who takes responsibility seriously and treats our home and belongings with care.

I appreciate a clean and tidy shared living environment, so I expect everyone to clean up after themselves and to be respectful of the common spaces.

Smoking and drinking alcohol are not allowed in the apartment. Of course, what you do in your free time outside our home is entirely up to you, as long as it doesn’t affect your responsibilities while staying with us.

Guests are generally not allowed in the apartment. If there is a special situation, you can always talk to me about it beforehand and we can see what feels comfortable for everyone.

Apart from that, I would like you to feel at home here, enjoy your independence and make the most of your time in Vienna.
