Hello,
We are Emma and Alexander. We are in the process of starting a Pilgrim House based on donations and volunteers. We have found a beautiful place that we want to share with people who, just like us, seek peace and inspiration in rhythm with nature and our meals. It will be a home for finding silence, reflection, and retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of our modern society. A place to find peace and insight. We want to bring people together and create community, because we believe that connection between people is beneficial. This allows for the formation of new friendships and valuable connections. We are not a business, nor will we become one. We do this out of love and want to bring more peace, light, and love into the world with this project. There is already enough war in the world, of which we know from our own experience, and we want to counter that with this place. During our holidays, Workawayers help us inspire, realise, and maintain this Pilgrim House. The next holiday is from July 12–17, 2026. Welcome!

Wij zijn Emma en Alexander. Wij zijn bezig om een Pelgrimshuis op te starten op basis van giften en vrijwilligers. We hebben een prachtige plek gevonden die we willen gaan delen met mensen die net als ons rust en inspiratie zoeken op het ritme van de natuur en de maaltijden. Het zal een huis zijn voor het vinden van stilte, bezinning en retraite, weg van alle jachtigheid en drukte van onze moderne samenleving. Een plek om tot rust en inzicht te komen. Wij willen mensen bijeen brengen, gemeenschap creëren, omdat wij geloven dat verbinding tussen mensen heilzaam is. Er kunnen zo nieuwe vriendschappen ontstaan, en waardevolle contacten. Wij zijn geen bedrijf en gaan hiermee ook geen bedrijf worden. Wij doen dit uit liefde en willen hiermee meer vrede, licht en liefde in de wereld brengen met dit project. Er is al genoeg oorlog in de wereld, waar wij uit eigen ervaring ook weet van hebben en wij willen daar deze plek tegenover zetten. In onze werkvakanties helpen workawayers ons met het inspireren, realiseren en in stand houden van dit Pelgrimshuis. De eerstvolgende werkvakantie is van 12-17 juli 2026. Welkom!

The goal of the holiday is encounter, relaxation, connection, and deepening. The content of the holiday consists partly of work, which has a connecting and energy-regulating effect, and largely of relaxation with ample room for meeting and conversation. It is a stay with other people in a pleasant and peaceful environment. Doing tasks together means discovering self-worth and the value of human contact. This also means learning from each other and learning new things. Holidaying together provides new experiences, but also the discovery of one's own boundaries and interests. During the workaway holidays, you meet other people who have the courage to meet a stranger. To see and be seen.

Doel van de werkvakantie is ontmoeting, ontspanning, verbinding en verdieping. Inhoud van de vakantie is deels arbeid, hetgeen een verbindende en energie-regulerende werking heeft en grotendeels ontspanning met volop ruimte voor ontmoeting en gesprek. Een verblijf met andere mensen in een prettige en rustgevende omgeving. Samen aan het werk betekent ontdekken van eigenwaarde en de waarde van menselijk contact. Samen aan het werk betekent ook leren van elkaar en nieuwe dingen leren. Samen vakantie vieren geeft nieuwe ervaringen, maar ook eigen grenzen en interesses ontdekken. In de werkvakanties ontmoet je andere mensen die de moed hebben een vreemde ander te ontmoeten. Zien en gezien worden.

During the upcoming workaway holiday, tasks in the garden and in the woods is on the program. In addition, we will start creating a quiet room. Het gaat om klussen aan en in huis. Er is echter ook een grote tuin en bosperceel met van alles te doen. We vinden voor iedereen wel wat passends. In de komende werkvakantie staat onderhoud in de tuin en in het bos op het programma. Daarnaast zullen we aanvangen met het maken van een stilte-ruimte. Verder staat er schilderwerk op het programma en mag het gereedschapshok ingericht worden.

We have our own bed in the house for everyone. We would appreciate it if you brought your own bed linen and towels. Also no place for a caravan or camper. Workawayers can choose whether they want to stay in one of our guest rooms, which they’ll share with one or more other Workawayers, or they can opt to pitch their own tent. We have enough tents available to provide everyone with their own private space, as well as plenty of room to set up tents. We have tents that you can borrow from us, including mattress and blankets. You share sanitary facilities with the other workawayers and we keep them clean together.
The principle is simple: help together in the morning, free in the afternoon and evening. Overnight stays, food and drinks are at our expense. Manderscheid is the nicest town in the Volcanic Eifel and there is plenty to do. But of course you can also stay in or around the house. Whatever you want. It's your holiday.
Daily rhythm:
8:00 AM – 8:20 AM: Breakfast
8:20 am – 8:30 am: Meeting
8:30 am – 10:30 am: Doing tasks
10:30 am – 11:00 am: Coffee break
11am – 1pm: Doing tasks
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Hot meal, then clean up and do the dishes together
2:00 PM - 6:00 PM: Free afternoon
6:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Bread meal (if desired)
We want to stick to this daily rhythm, so that it is equal and clear for everyone. At lunch we will have a hot meal (German style), after which you are free to do something yourself. We keep dinner simple with bread. Eating along is never mandatory; Those who do not want to eat with us are of course free to do so, but please let us know in the morning. You can then leave right away at 1 p.m. It is not necessary to unsubscribe in the evening. At 6 p.m., those who are there put the bread on the table. Whoever is there, joins the meal.

We hebben voor iedereen een eigen bed in huis. We vinden het wel fijn als je je eigen beddengoed en handdoeken meeneemt. We hebben geen eigen slaapkamers. Ook geen plek voor een caravan of camper. Wilt u meer privacy, dan is een tent bespreekbaar. Wij hebben tenten die u van ons kunt lenen, inclusief matras en dekens. Sanitair deel je met de andere workawayers en die houden we samen schoon.
Het principe is eenvoudig: 's ochtends samen aan de slag, ’s middags en ‘s avonds vrij. Overnachtingen, eten en drinken zijn voor onze rekening. Manderscheid is het gezelligste stadje van de Vulkaaneifel en er is van alles te doen. Maar je kunt natuurlijk ook lekker in of rond het huis blijven. Wat je wilt. Het is jouw/jullie vakantie.

We willen ons aan dit dagritme houden, zodat het voor iedereen gelijk en duidelijk is. Tussen de middag gaan we (op z’n Duits) warm eten, waarna jullie vrij zijn om zelf iets te ondernemen. Het avondeten houden we eenvoudig met brood. Het mee-eten is overigens nooit verplicht; degenen die niet mee willen eten zijn daar natuurlijk vrij in, maar laat het dan ’s ochtends wel even weten. Je kunt dan gelijk om 13.00 uur al weg gaan. Afmelden voor ’s avonds is niet per sé nodig. Om 18.00 uur zetten degenen die er zijn het brood op tafel. Wie er dan is, eet mee.

Manderscheid is a small town in the German Volcanic Eifel with many facilities, a bus station, museums, and restaurants. Manderscheid is known for its two castles and via ferrata. Manderscheid is one of the most beautiful nature reserves with unique flora and fauna, and therefore attracts many nature lovers and hikers. It is a volcanic area with all the typical geological features that come with it.
We ourselves live as naturally, organically, and vegetarian as possible, but not strictly adhering to any particular doctrine. We do want to keep things practical and are open to something different. In the future, we are also considering creating a food forest.

Manderscheid is een kleine stad in de Duitse Vulkaaneifel met veel faciliteiten, een busstation, musea en horeca. Manderscheid staat bekend om haar twee burchten en klettersteig. Manderscheid behoort tot de mooiste natuurgebieden met een bijzondere flora en fauna en trekt daarom veel natuurliefhebbers en wandelaars. Het is een vulkanisch gebied met alle typische geologische bijzonderheden die daarbij horen.
Zelf leven wij zo natuurlijk, biologisch en vegetarisch mogelijk, maar niet bepaalt streng in een leer. We willen het wel praktisch houden en staan open voor wat anders. In de toekomst overwegen we ook een voedselbos te creëren.
