    Description

    Hello!
We are a stewardship project transitioning into a new era; we live in a wild, beautiful property in the mountains of Western Asturias, surrounded by forests, our beautiful gardens, springs, and the Navia river where you can swim.
We are currently in the pioneer stage of turning this project into an open, collaborative community hub.
Currently, there are two full-time stewards living on the land (myself and my mother), along with our free-roaming dogs, cat, chickens and ducks. We are not a bustling eco-village with dozens of residents yet; we are laying the bedrock for what this place will become.
We are seeking independent, self-reliant individuals who want to help create something meaningful during the rewarding stages of a project’s formation. Whether you are looking for a peaceful, scenic base to live autonomously alongside like-minded people for a season, or you are curious about planting deeper roots and helping shape the long-term future of this community, our doors are open to you.

Our ultimate, slow-growth dream is to turn this land into a decentralized hub of independent living spaces (camping areas, van parking space, and small cabins surrounding the small village) where creative, self-reliant people can gather to contribute their skills and become stewards of a simpler and freer way of life.
We are also passionate about building a digital-physical network of neighboring projects in the region, so we collaborate, grow together and inspire each other.
This is a place for people who enjoy independence, simplicity and taking initiative rather than being guided every step of the way.

Most of the help currently needed is found in physical outdoor tasks: gathering wood, moving logs and stones, clearing forest undergrowth, gardening under unpredictable Asturian weather... what matters most isn't having lots of experience, but being observant, proactive and willing to take ownership of whatever you're doing.
The colder months of the year here can be damp and grey. It doesn't get too cold, but it can get windy and rainy for a long time. The days are shorter and while it's a good season to get a lot of work done, it's also a time for more rest and introspection.
The warmer months can be a bit overwhelming, with very long days, hot sun and lots of work to be done everywhere. Nature is brimming with life and demanding your attention, but it's also a very rewarding season in many ways, including also lots of recreational outdoor activities to enjoy during this time.

Part of our philosophy here is that we are deeply committed to learning to live in harmony with nature and with each other. We seek to build loving relationships where we value sharing emotional truth and to help each other grow spiritually. If you are tired of superficial interactions and social facades, you may find a home here. We value raw truth-telling, emotional expression, and the courage to look at our own biases, blind spots, shadows and wounds with compassion and a desire for growth. We seek to cultivate a space where we can speak from the heart, share our vulnerabilities, and build friendships based on genuine spiritual and emotional depth.

This project is probably not the best fit if you're looking for a structured volunteer program with fixed schedules, daily task lists, organized meals or lots of guidance. We thrive with people who enjoy independence, simplicity and figuring things out for themselves. So if you have your own means of transport, able to cover most of your own food/necessities, and seek a peaceful space in the middle of nature to live alongside like-minded people, send a message!

We love deep talks around an evening bonfire, sharing from the heart with friends about our journeys, our fears and our hopes and dreams :^)

If you have experience using stone ovens, we have one where you can practice making pizza, bread or anything else you’d like!

One of our long-term hopes is to see this region gradually come back to life. If you're dreaming of creating your own place one day, we'd love to help you explore what's possible here. There are many abandoned homes and pieces of land waiting for new caretakers, and we'd be excited to see a network of friends and neighboring projects grow over time.

There is always plenty to do. However, we deliberately keep the project lightly structured. Rather than assigning tasks throughout the day, we enjoy living alongside people who naturally take initiative. We're always happy to answer questions or teach new skills, but we don't want to micromanage.
We do not expect you to work on a rigid schedule or clock hours; we're looking for people who can be creative; notice what needs doing, and can work independently if needed rather than waiting for instructions.
But most importantly, we want your contribution to flow from a place of genuine inspiration and joy, not obligation.

    Current points of focus:
    • Clearing out brush: bramble, gorse, ferns, etc.
    • Digging new flat spaces for tents and vans
    • Building a shower + compost toilet structure
    • Garden:
    - Syntropic agroforestry lines management
    - Planting trees
    - Expanding the food forest / botanical garden and designing new spaces
    - Harvesting and cooking/preserving foods
    - Walking path maintenance/weeding
    - Pruning plants and trees
    • Helping build a small cabin
    • Routine maintenance of ducks and chickens
    • Walking the dogs (Misty & Foggy)
    • Helping create a beautiful outdoor kitchen space for common meals, bonfires and hanging out
    • Gathering sticks for wattle fences
    • Gathering wood for making mulch
    • Carrying logs/stones
    • Cleaning the forests of plastics and garbage

    Hébergement

    Living arrangement:
    • You are responsible for buying, cooking, and managing your own necessities and meals.
    • In exchange for a free, legal, and beautiful place to stay with internet, electricity and spring water, we simply ask for your presence, your respect, and a natural desire to contribute to the future of the project and to leave it better than you found it..

Because we are starting this new chapter from the ground up, our spaces are still rustic and in progress..
    • Guest house: A converted barn. It has one shared room with two bunk beds (ideal for a couple or 1-2 independent travelers), and an open kitchen and living area.
Note: If you are a daily/frequent/regular smoker, we politely ask that you provide your own accommodation instead.
    • Camper/van parking: We currently still have a limited and not perfectly level, but beautiful space for one, maximum two vehicles. The road here can be a bit jarring but it is a great adventure for capable drivers!
    • Bathroom: Currently there is only a plumbed toilet and an outdoor shower with limited hot water.
A heads-up: we work with a bidet hose and towel (no toilet paper!).
We are soon planning to build an independent outdoor structure with a composting toilet with and an integrated shower.
    • Pilgrims: If you are walking the Camino de Santiago or traveling off the beaten path and need a free, safe and beautiful place to rest and recharge, our doors are open to you.
    • We have two beautiful, free-roaming Border Collies. They bark at wild boars some nights; if you are a light sleeper, we highly recommend having a pair of earplugs!

North-west Iberia is a beautiful, green paradise that is also rich in history and culture. There are plenty of attractions both in nature and in small quaint towns, there's always something to see.
English is not often spoken by locals in the area, so if you want to practice Spanish, this is a very good place to do so.
Getting here requires some logistical planning. Most guests either arrive with their own vehicle or organize the final stretch themselves as there is no public transport directly to the property. There is a taxi service on demand and the bus running once daily on weekdays is about a 1 hour walk from here, though you can try to hitchhike your way there.
We are also surrounded by a rich network of alternative, like-minded projects and lovely neighbors within a 30 minute drive. It is a fantastic area for hopping between different nearby workaway hosts, or simply for hiking, swimming, backpacking, mountain biking, and exploring the wilder side of Asturias.
We have beautiful trails starting from our village, lakes/rivers at a walking distance and a 15 minute drive to the nearest town (Boal) for basic services like groceries, pharmacy, mechanic, hardware store, restaurants, cafes, post office, banks, gas station. etc., and less than 60 minutes to the coast where you can find countless beaches, surfing spots, and bigger cities (Navia, Ribadeo, Luarca)
