    Description

Welcome! I’m Simone, a former engineer who left the city life for the countryside and live a life more in tune with my own values and dreams.
After several years of experience in another farm located just next to this one, I moved here to start my second permaculture project in the mountains of Valchiusella.
In this area there are several abandoned houses and pieces of land, and my wish is to renovate them one by one and at the same time open the ground for a community to settle and grow, preparing vegetable gardens, planting fruit trees that will provide for the generations to come and safe spaces for people and nature to thrive together in harmony.
I’m looking for motivated people who are not afraid to live in a place in contact with nature, people that want to be open and challenged, people who like to work but who are also able to take the space for themself and their self-care.
My wish is to create a space where you can have the chance to grow, to experience a different way of living, to be more connected with the natural cycles, the seasons and the life that sorrounds us, to be happy and peaceful.

There is plenty of tasks to do, mostly in the fresh air:

    DURING ALL SEASONS
    - participate in the household duties (cleaning, cooking, etc.)
    - continue to renovate the house (carpenters, in-door designer, plumber or experienced craftsman are very welcome!)
    - clean the woods and grassland from brambles
    - make firewood for the cold season
    - collect and process herbs
    - enrich this place with art, good conversations and life

    APRIL – JUNE
    - prepare the gardens for the season
    - constructions (fences, dry stone walls, indoor-design of a caravan, and much more)

    JULY – OCTOBER
    - repair dry stone walls
    - take care of the gardens
    - harvest fruits, vegs, chestnuts, nuts, herbs and more
    - preserving harvest

    WINTER
    - cut firewood
    - cleaning gardens, spread compost and get them ready for the next growing season
    - general cleanings and manteinance

Working together should be an enriching experience for all, so it's important to know what pushes you to join this project, hoping it would be a step ahead for your projects as well.

    Hébergement

You will stay in a traditional 100+ years old Piedmont cottage house or in a renovated caravan, with a beautiful view on the plains in front of it:

    - In the summer time there is a shared area for the guests on the top floor under the roof where there are two tents for maximum 4 persons. The tents are stocked with mattresses, pillows, bottom sheets and additional blankets but, blease bring your own sleeping bag.
    - In winter time the only heated space for guests to sleep is a caravan with a little stove inside, so there is space for one person at the time or a couple/friends who don’t mind share the bed.
    - All the meals, which will be mostly vegan/vegetarian, are included. You can either eat together or by your own.
    - WIFI is only available through mobile phones and just for important uses
    - There is a bathroom with hot showers inside the house but at the moment the toilet is outside the house (compost toilet).
    - VERY IMPORTANT! The weather in the mountains can change quickly. There are many hot days through the whole year when the sun's out and it can get pretty cold when there are rainy days. So bring clothes for all kind of weather situations in every season. Weatherproof jacket and boots are essential. The temperatures can be between 0 to 20 degree in spring/autumn and 10 to 35 degree in summer).
    - Please bring your own sunscreen/sun protection.
    - A head-torch can be useful for the night walk to the toilet.
    - There are a few solar panels with batteries, so the electricity may be limited if there are several cloudy days without sun. A powerbank could be useful.
    - Water comes from a wellspring and we use wood for cooking and heating - so fresh water is provided.
    - Sometimes there is a cat inside of the house.

Feel free to get in contact if you have any question and for more information about the accomodation.

    Autres infos...

The house is at the beginning of the beautiful Valchiusella valley with many beautiful trails and views, so if you like to hike bring some outdoor mountain equipment.
There are also other workaway hosts around us, some you can reach within foot walk. With them we meet sometimes to share work or just simply celebrate together :).

You will have two free days each week. In these you will be free to stay at the house or explore the surrounding area. The nearest city is Ivrea, which can be reached with a bus in less than an hour. Milan and Turin are easily reachable from Ivrea train station within a couple of hours. But also some close by villages provide entertainment with very good local made icecream (Gelaterie), bars and little shops for daily needs. There's a place with table-tennis and a pool closeby and in summer we have the river of the valley within a walk to spend the hot afternoons at! Also Damanhur, a big spiritual community is not far – worth a (cost intense) visit.

*** How to get to here: I only go two or three times per month to the nearest town Ivrea and I can pick you up from there. All the other days of the week (except Sundays) there's a cheap bus going up. It starts directly at the train station in Ivrea and can leave you very close to the house. For more information feel free to send a message in advance and please try not to arrive on a Sunday (no bus coming up), grazie! ***
