We are a family, including our five-year-old, who embarked on a journey back to our ancestral village a couple of years ago, driven by the dream of embracing an eco-friendly way of life.

Nestled in a quaint village in Sikkim, India, we operate a homestay, striving to cultivate our own organic food and adhere to a sustainable and eco-conscious lifestyle. Our path leads us towards achieving zero-waste living, prompting us to continuously explore, experiment, and implement innovative ideas.

Moreover, we have a deep desire to delve into the realm of natural building, and we remain enthusiastically open to the prospect of acquiring new knowledge and skills.

There is a wealth of knowledge and experiences to exchange and absorb from one another. From tending to the farm and preparing traditional dishes to engaging with the local community, immersing ourselves in a new language, and exploring various crafts, the opportunities for learning and growth are boundless.

We’re looking for a kind-hearted soul who’s ready to embrace village life and flow with the rhythm of our days. If you’re open to living simply, staying grounded, and lending a hand with farm work, gardening, and household chores, we’d be delighted to welcome you into our home.

We also have a curious 5-year-old who is homeschooled — if you enjoy sharing knowledge, teaching new activities, or introducing a new language, that would be a wonderful bonus.

More than just a volunteer ,we hope you’ll become a part of our family, sharing meals, laughter, and daily life, and helping us run this place with warmth and care. 🌿✨

During his two-week stay with us, he helped with household chores, weeding, and tending to the garden — always ready to lend a hand whenever we needed. I had a really wonderful stay of one month at the homestay! I was looking for an off grid village in sikkim to learn from their lifestyle, and this is a really good opportunity for this! Dhuni is close to the small town Yangyang in south sikkim, there is a small monarstry closeby, a beautiful 3.000m mountaim that you can climb and beautiful … read more ricefields as well. Dhuni is situated in a wonderful green mountain area, with jungle, trees, farms and a colorful flowers. The family, Mandeep, Bhawana and their dauther Gundulu (Oh I hope the spelling is correct?) is a really lovely family, that welcomes you really like a familiy, me like a sister! Bhawana is working as a teacher and I had the opportunity to vistit her closeby school and see all the lovely children with their bright smiles, full of life! She is really passionated about our planet and is giving her really best to make a change on this earth. You can really feel it that all the projects she does, it's out of the passion that comes from her heart. That is wonderful and really inspiring! Mandeep is running the farming, the guests, he is cooking delicious dishes and he is like a really caring trip planner as well! I am impressed by all his work, that sometimes is a lot of multitasking and he does everything, like Bhawana out of real interest and passion. It was wonderful to experience that! Both lf them raise up their dauther in a really healthy, loving and free way, what is nice to see, this small cute princess how is developing into a healthy human beeing with her own will, yes, I can learn this really from her!

Most of the time I did farm work, that means a lot of weeding, as well as planting, watering and harvesting. Sometimes I played with Gundulu or I had cleaning jobs to do. What makes this workaway place different from others is, that you don't have fixed working times or days. You just live together with the family. Sometimes there is more work to do, sometimes less amd their is time to do a hiking trip or other trips as well as interesting talks and conversations in the evening time.
Oh and don't forget to mention, the delicious organic food that I enjoyed sooo much! Mandeep and Bhawana teached me all of the dishes I want to learn so now I can cook them back in Germany.

I loved to vivit the mud houses of the other village members, an inside that you will never have in a hotel im gantok! I was invited to join all their acitivities-like a family member- so I saw a furneal and the traditions around that and I was also joining when the family went to meet their family.

Thank you a lot for this wonderful month!

Bhawna and mandip were absolutely the best! completely felt like home for us immediately thanks to their energy and welcoming. they really let us in to their lives and we enjoyed meeting all of their neighbors and family and experiencing the village and it's surrounding. and little gundulu was the sweetest of course!!!
