    Description

    We are 15 life-long friends, all Israeli and vegan animal-lovers who moved to Costa Rica in 2005. We established a non-profit, no-kill charitable organization founded on the belief that all animals deserve respectful and loving treatment and must be protected by humans as well as by law.

    Whenever we come across animals who are abused, abandoned, sick or injured, we take action to prevent further suffering and give them a safe and loving home.

    We have around 1200 animals including cats, dogs, horses, geese, ducks, goats, sheep and hens as well as the local wildlife of the cloud forest where we are located.

    This workaway is unique as it opens a window to experience the culture of Costa Rica, as well as learning about the culture of Israelis.
    Israeli culture values direct communication; if you need help or have suggestions please come and speak with us! We care very much about your perspective and since we are very occupied with our own tasks it is often not possible for us to come and initiate discussion (though trust us, we love to talk!).

    This workaway is unique as it opens a window to experience the culture of Costa Rica, as well as learning about the culture of Israelis. Most importantly, our volunteers learn about the love we have for our animals and will learn how to treat & take care of dogs and cats.

    Volunteers also will be living in a cloud forest, and will be surrounded by the flora and fauna of Costa Rica.

    Most importantly, we need volunteers to help take care of our dogs and cats. Tasks include dog walking, washing dogs, washing blankets of dogs, special care for sick/disabled dogs, cleaning the catteries, changing their litter etc. You must not be afraid to pick up poop!

    No special skills are required, all can be taught here, but an approach and love for animals is required. Any other skills you may have that are connected to animals will be a great help.

    In addition to the above, we are interested in hearing from volunteers who have skills and proven experience in videography, social media, photography and website development to help us with online marketing.

    There are also other possibilities for our volunteers to assist in working at our hotel on reception, gardening etc.

    Accommodation is dormitory based. Volunteers will share a room between 2-3 people or possibly with another member of staff. There are separate dorms for men and women.

    We provide sheets, blankets and there is wifi in the property.

    We also provide 3 vegetarian or vegan meals per day. Meals vary but typically consists of comida typica, fruits, any sometimes other simple plates such as pasta, sandwiches, and vegan proteins.

    As a thank you to our volunteers, we offer discounts on outdoor activities on the volunteers’ day off. Activities include organized tours, canopying/zipling, horseback riding, rappelling through water falls, rafting and guided hiking trails. It is also possible to visit the nearest towns which are La Fortuna and San Ramon

    We ask our volunteers to stay with us for a minimum of three weeks, helping 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. Working hours are spread out throughout the day and evening
