Description
Hello! We’re Jen and Tav, a laid-back, adventurous couple living on a 100-acre conservation property just a short drive from the stunning beaches of the NSW North Coast. Oceans Reach isn’t just our home—it’s our passion project. We’re on a mission to help local wildlife thrive and restore a beloved piece of history: a 100-year-old hardwood beer pavilion that was relocated here from the local racecourse.
With Jen’s conservation background and Tav’s experience as a carpenter and builder, we’ve got the skills and vision to make this dream a reality—but we need extra hands to help us bring it to life!
**What We’re Looking For**
We're seeking volunteers with a range of skills to help us out. You’ll have a chance to work on meaningful projects, enjoy the natural beauty of our property, and learn hands-on skills along the way.
General Help: Gardening, planting trees, weeding, clearing paths, tidying up, spotting wildlife, and helping with day-to-day tasks around the house (including cooking if you enjoy it!).
Skilled Carpenter: If you’re a skilled carpenter or have experience with restoration work, we’d love your help! Tav will lead the pavilion restoration, but with his part-time job, we could really use an extra set of hands to get things moving. Our building projects include: Constructing a tiny house from recycled materials, Pavilion Restoration; This grand old building needs the floor levelled, missing panels replaced, and additional rooms and balconies added to bring it back to life, and a Camp bathroom; using our natural resources we need a new camp bathroom built in the bush for our Hipcampers to use.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

We are pretty handy people with lots of practical skills to share with you. Jen can teach art, conservation and sourdough and sauerkraut making. Tav is a Tradie and will help show how to use tools as needed. We both like a yarn around the fire with a beer or two, gardening, fishing, surfing and socialising. When you stay with us we welcome you into the family, but also provide space to do your own thing and chill. We like to explore the area and will include you when we can.

Our ideal helper (or couple!) for Oceans Reach is someone with a deep passion for conservation, wildlife, and sustainable living. You’re an outdoor enthusiast who might love surfing, fishing, gardening, bushwalking, or ecology, and you’re ready to dive into practical, hands-on work with a sense of adventure and a willingness to get your hands dirty. Since we’re tucked away from public transport, having your own vehicle is recommended for easy access to nearby beaches and nature spots. We’re initially looking for a 2 to 4-week commitment, with the option to extend if it’s a great fit.

We can help with your english and Jen has some experience speaking Spanish and would like to learn more.Hébergement
We provide a huge deluxe bell tent with power, a queen bed, sheets etc, or you can bring your own tent, campervan or trailer, and once the tiny house is complete, a room in the beer pavilion will be available. We have a camp shower and toilets for privacy but we also offer full access to our main house for meals, and socials.
We are busy growing organic veggies and will share them as they grow and you'll never miss a day of Jens 'famous' sourdough. We are dairy free but eat most other foods. We will share meals 2-3 times a week and would appreciate cultural exchanges learning about your food and culture too.*We can negotiate how much we cater for you in exchange work hours.Autres infos...
Since we’re tucked away from public transport, having your own vehicle is recommended for easy access to nearby beaches and nature spots. We can drive you around a little bit and show you the sights but we only have 2 seats in our cars which makes it limiting to explore....
We’re initially looking for a 1-2 week commitment for general help, and 4 weeks + for skilled carpenters. Both positions have the option to extend if it’s a great fit.
This whole area of the Clarence Valley, Yuraygir National Park and State Forests is loaded with outdoor activities, birds, wildlife, and is a absolute hidden gem. Next door is the Glenugie State Forest which is a good place to hike, mountain bike, 4WD, hunt and bird watch.
The internet is getting better here with a Teltsra account which is good enough for work and streaming.Informations complémentaires
