Description
Kia ora!
Welcome to our home on the south coast of Ōtepoti/Dunedin. There are 6 of us that live here fulltime, but the heart behind this place is that it is a home for many. As many of us have had beautiful experiences woofing and doing workaways around the county and the world, we thought it was our time to start hosting. We have a lot of dreams and visions and projects already on the go, but would love some extra energy and inspiration.
This is a special place, fuelled by creative energy, love for one another and this beautiful whenua we call home, we’d love to invite you to come and join us :)
The local area is known for amazing surf - we’re lucky to have a break right out front, unique wildlife, it’s music scene and being a student town there is always lots going on. We live 20 minutes south of the city, and most of us work there so will be many opportunities for lifts into town.

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
We’re a social home with a lot of people that come and stay and hang out. Activities in a week often include jams, communal cooking, surf missions, diving, gardening, pot luck dinners, crafting and whatever else might be going on. Theres lots of good things to get amongst down here!
All of us are on a haerenga/journey deepening our understanding of te reo Māori, the language of Aotearoa/New Zealand as well as wisdoms held in this land, tikanga/Māori customs and insight and traditional craftmanship, relationship with our natural environment. Always keen to learn alongside others, of other cultures, wisdoms, ways of being!
Aide
The help we’d like is varied and we’re keen to find work that you’d enjoy doing! So feel free to let us know what you’re passionate about and if you have particular skills, but other than that the main projects are:
- expanding and maintaining the gardens
We’re hoping to freshen them up and put a bit more creative energy onto the garden space. We also want to extend the gardens and potentially start a couple of new sites. We use organic practices and permacultural practices, so much to learn in this space so any experience greatly appreciated!
- creative and artistic projects
In February, we plan to host a practice music gig in the hopes of growing it into a bigger festival in the future. The plan is to have a bunch of local artists playing and sharing their music, and setting up the property in a creative way to accomodate a large amount of people! So many opportunities for what we could do, this will be fun and creative process.
- Building work
Something we’re working on at the moment is converting a container into minor dwelling, lots of DIYing.
-Earth building
A big dream is to build something with the earth, whether that be a bigger pizza oven or a little hut, unsure yet, but want to give it a go.
Other jobs may look like:
prepping firewood, cooking, hanging out, going on missions, pickling and preserving food, and many more things I’m sure.
Will be varied doing tasks together and some work independently, we’re not strict on the hours, but more about finding ways to contribute that you enjoy and we can all benefit from! Please let us know if there are particular projects/skills you’d like to practice/learn while your here, the goal is collaboration not just telling you what needs to be done, so all ideas welcome🌱

Hébergement
Accomodation options are varied depending on the time of year and length of stay, we have a campervan currently and are working on building other accomodation options. Bedding is provided. Food will be provided for breakfast and lunches, and we normally have dinner all together, this is normally collaborative and we all take turns making meals, you’d be included in this. Please let us know any dietary needs!

Autres infos...
So many things to do with time off down here, amazing beaches and coastline, wildlife, sealions, penguins, albatross, mountain bike tracks, diving, surf, climbing, gigs, endless crafting opportunities, can get to the mountains in a few hours and some incredible hikes in national parks. We’ll be able to offer rides to town and there is a great bus service from there if don’t have your own vehicle. We may be able to provide a bike or surfboard/wetsuit depending on what’s going and who’s around at the time!
We operate as a whānau that hold mutual respect for one another. We are heart centred people that care about each other and the land around us, respect is a non-negotiable for us.
