  • Description

    Description

We can accommodate guests from June 29, 2026 until approximately mid-September.

    Hi, we're Victor (34), Darshan (30), Clément (32), Luise (29) – and Peach & Chips!
(Yes, we’re a big, happy household of roommates – humans and dogs included 😊)

    🏠 About us
We live in a cozy shared house in a small village right by the Swiss border and close to Germany. Victor shares his childhood home with a wonderful international crew: Darshan (from India), an aeronautical safety engineer; Clément (from Toulouse), a teacher; and Luise (from Germany), a medical doctor. Clément and Luise are a couple (Photos of them are coming soon – for now, you can see Victor in the multicoloured jacket and Darshan in the blue shirt).

Lately, the vibe of the house has evolved: Victor has recently stepped away from his current business for the upcoming months. He is using this time to prepare his upcoming move from the region, as his next big project is to open a dedicated retreat center focused on yoga, meditation, tantra, sports, and well-being. Hosting Workawayers right now is a great way for him to dedicate time to the house, share life with volunteers, and step into this new hospitality mindset.
While the other roommates work during the week, you will mostly be hanging out, working, and sharing activities with Victor.

We share a large, beautiful garden (complete with a jacuzzi!) with the neighboring house, which is home to 8 friendly roommates aged 25–35. There is a fantastic, vibrant, and international community spirit here. We very often organize wood-fired pizza nights in the garden with all the neighbors!

    🐕 The Dogs – Peach & Chips

Peach is a 7-year-old Anatolian Shepherd (Kangal), 70 kg of loyal independence. She isn't really into traditional obedience, but she is incredibly respectful if you are too.

Chips is a 6-year-old American Staffordshire (officially listed as a Boxer). He is super sweet with people, absolutely crazy about playing fetch, and loves splashing in the water. He had a rough start in life and can be reactive due to his shelter experience.

⚠️ Important: Both dogs have attacked other dogs in the past and are absolutely not socialized with other animals. Because of this, walks in the village are not possible — all of their exercise and playtime happen safely within our large, enclosed yard. You must be genuinely at ease around large, powerful dogs, and highly vigilant about locking gates and fences.

    🛠️ Your role & Help
Because Victor is focusing on this transition, he has a lot of exciting projects lined up! We are looking for someone to help him with:

    -Tidying and deep-cleaning the house.

-Light gardening, weeding together and taking care of the outside space.

A deep, natural connection with dogs is absolutely imperative for this stay. The goal is to build strong trust so that, from time to time, Victor can comfortably go away on holiday for a few days, knowing the dogs are in safe, loving hands. Don't worry—when Victor is away, you won't need to walk them outside; your role will just be keeping them company at home, feeding them, and letting them play in the secured garden.

We ask that you arrive a few days before any house-sitting periods so you can bond with Peach and Chips while Victor is still around. Ideally, we ask for a minimum stay of two weeks, but longer stays are highly welcome.

    🧘 Life here
You’ll have a private, spacious room in a fully equipped house. We mostly eat vegetarian food (fresh, local, and often sourced from food-saving initiatives), but we can easily adapt to vegan or gluten-free diets. Victor loves to cook and usually prepares shared lunches and dinners, and breakfast is always provided.

We want you to feel part of our lives: we love doing activities together, sharing meals, and introducing our volunteers to our local friends. However, if Victor goes away for a few days, you should also feel completely comfortable being independent and managing dogs on your own.

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

Our region is truly unique — located at the crossroads of France, Switzerland, and Germany, it offers a rich blend of cultures, languages, and traditions. You’ll be able to explore Alsatian villages, visit Basel just across the border, and discover both French and German influences in the architecture, food, and way of life.

We love sharing meals and cooking together — Victor is passionate about food and will introduce you not only to local specialities, but also to international cuisine, as we often experiment with dishes from around the world.

Beyond that, you’ll be part of a friendly, mixed household where different backgrounds and perspectives come together — a great opportunity to practice languages (English, French, German, or even Hindi!) and exchange ideas in a relaxed, open setting.

Please make sure to read our main profile carefully — everything we’ve written about the tasks, the dogs, and the living situation is accurate and reflects the reality of life here.

While the other roommates work regular office hours during the week, Victor is currently home full-time, preparing his future project of opening a retreat center (for yoga, meditation, tantra, sport, etc.).

As a personal hobby and passion project, Victor loves converting VW camper vans. This is completely independent of the volunteer tasks, but he is always happy to share his passion, hang out in the garage, and chat about it with anyone who shares a similar interest or is curious to learn!

In the evenings and on weekends, the whole house comes together. We love spending time as a big group—whether it's sharing music, playing games, or enjoying our famous wood-fired pizza nights with our neighbours in the garden.

In general, the daily help requested is varied and rewarding, but we are specifically looking for someone who genuinely loves dogs and will make Peach and Chips a true priority in their daily rhythm.

We understand that it can be hard to predict exactly how long you’ll want to stay before arriving. That said, we’d appreciate a realistic estimate when you apply — it helps a lot with our planning and ensures a smooth experience for everyone.

    A gentle note:
If you’re currently going through a tough emotional time (e.g., recent heartbreak, major personal instability, or intense mood swings), this might not be the best environment for you. We've had a couple of difficult experiences in the past. Because we live so closely together as a community and share a lot of communal spaces, emotional stability, maturity, and mutual respect are really important to maintain the peaceful, friendly, and joyful atmosphere of our home.

We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully welcoming you into our international family!

We live in a large, cozy house surrounded by nature — a small river runs through the garden, and we have a direct view of the forest behind us. 🌳

The garden is shared with the house next door, where 8 of our friends live. We often hang out together — sharing an apéro, walking the slackline, or relaxing in the jacuzzi. It’s a social and friendly atmosphere, but you’ll also have your own space and privacy when needed.

You’ll have a large private room, and the house is fully equipped with all standard amenities.

We mostly eat vegetarian, with some of our food coming from a local food-saving initiative we’re part of. While we don’t provide meat or strictly vegan meals, we’re happy to accommodate different diets when possible. No judgment — just shared meals and flexibility.

Victor is a passionate cook and usually prepares shared lunches and dinners. Breakfast is also provided.
