    Description

    Hi, we're Louise (24), Victor (33), Darshan (28)– and Peach & Chips!
(Yes, we’re all roommates – humans and dogs included 😊)

🔍 Currently looking for Workawayers for the summer

    🏠 About us
We live in a cozy shared house in a small village right by the Swiss border and close to Germany. Victor (from here) shares his childhood home with Louise (from Normandy), a pharmacy student, and Darshan (from India), an aeronautical safety engineer.

Victor also runs his own business, builds camper vans, loves to cook and play sports. Louise plays guitar, sings, and bakes. Darshan is a cricket enthusiast and trains often.

We share a large garden (with a jacuzzi!) with the neighboring house, home to 8 friendly roommates aged 25–35. It's a vibrant, international vibe.

    🐕 The Dogs – Peach & Chips
Peach is a 6-year-old Anatolian Shepherd (Kangal), 70 kg of loyal independence. Not really into obedience, but very respectful if you are too.

Chips is a 5-year-old American Staffordshire (officially listed as a Boxer), super sweet with people, crazy about playing fetch and splashing in water. He had a rough start and can be reactive due to his shelter experience.

⚠️ Important: Both dogs have attacked other dogs in the past and are not socialized with other animals. Walks in the village are not possible — we stick to playtime in our enclosed yard. You must be at ease with large, powerful dogs and vigilant about gates and fences.

    🛠️ Your role
The main task is to care for the dogs, especially when Victor is away. This includes:

    Feeding them

Keeping them company during the day

Taking them to the yard to play

Making sure they don’t bark excessively

Ensuring they don’t escape – this is top priority!

We’d like you to arrive a few days early (before any time alone with them) to build trust. Ideally, we ask for a minimum stay of two weeks, and longer stays are welcome.

Helping with house chores or light DIY is always appreciated, especially if you enjoy hands-on tasks.

    🧘 Life here
You’ll have a private, spacious room in a house with full amenities. We mostly eat vegetarian (fresh, local food, often from food-saving initiatives), but we can adapt meals for vegan or gluten-free diets. Victor loves to cook and usually prepares shared lunches and dinners. Breakfast is provided too.

We’re part of a relaxed, caring household — we respect each other’s space and value meaningful connections.

    🌍 The region
We're in the heart of Europe — everything is close!

    Summer: swim in the Rhine

Winter: Christmas markets in Alsace & Basel

Year-round: hiking in the Black Forest, Jura or Alps (under 1 hour away)

We’re also along major European cycling routes (bikes available!)

This is a great spot for someone independent, nature-loving, and curious about culture and community life in France and beyond.

    Interested?
There’s a lot more to share, and we’d love to hear from you if this experience speaks to you. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

Our region is truly unique — located at the crossroads of France, Switzerland, and Germany, it offers a rich blend of cultures, languages, and traditions. You’ll be able to explore Alsatian villages, visit Basel just across the border, and discover both French and German influences in the architecture, food, and way of life.

We love sharing meals and cooking together — Victor is passionate about food and will introduce you not only to local specialities, but also to international cuisine, as we often experiment with dishes from around the world.

If you're interested in DIY, you could also get involved in the van conversion project or other occasional handiwork around the house.

Beyond that, you’ll be part of a friendly, mixed household where different backgrounds and perspectives come together — a great opportunity to practice languages (English, French, German, or even Hindi!) and exchange ideas in a relaxed, open setting.

Please make sure to read our main profile carefully — everything we’ve written about the tasks and living situation is accurate and reflects the reality of this Workaway.

This is not a place where we can teach you lots of new skills or offer intensive learning opportunities — however, Victor is currently working on converting a VW van and would be happy to share this project with anyone who’s curious or hands-on.

We all work regular office hours during the week, but we enjoy spending time together in the evenings and on weekends — meals, music, games, etc.

In general, the work here is simple and not very demanding, but we’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being around dogs and will make them a priority in their daily rhythm.

We understand that it's hard to predict exactly how long you’ll want to stay before arriving. That said, we’d appreciate it if you could give us a realistic estimate — it helps a lot for planning and making sure things run smoothly for everyone.

    A gentle note:
If you’re currently going through a tough emotional time (e.g. recent heartbreak, major instability, or intense mood swings), this might not be the best environment for you. We've had a couple of difficult experiences in the past, and because we live closely together, emotional stability and mutual respect are really important for maintaining a peaceful and friendly atmosphere in the house.

We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully welcoming you into our home!

    Hébergement

We live in a large, cozy house surrounded by nature — a small river runs through the garden, and we have a direct view of the forest behind us. 🌳

The garden is shared with the house next door, where 8 of our friends live. We often hang out together — sharing an apéro, walking the slackline, or relaxing in the jacuzzi. It’s a social and friendly atmosphere, but you’ll also have your own space and privacy when needed.

You’ll have a large private room, and the house is fully equipped with all standard amenities.

We mostly eat vegetarian, with much of our food coming from a local food-saving initiative we’re part of. While we don’t provide meat or strictly vegan meals, we’re happy to accommodate different diets when possible. No judgment — just shared meals and flexibility.

Victor is a passionate cook and usually prepares shared lunches and dinners. Breakfast is also provided.
