Description
We live in a beautiful and peaceful area surrounded by nature, just 10 kilometres from Aosta. Our home is in Excenex, in the Great Saint Bernard Valley, in the heart of the Aosta Valley.
It is a wonderful place for anyone who loves mountains, greenery and outdoor life, but it is also close enough to Aosta to explore the town and the surrounding area. From here, we are surrounded by stunning mountain views, including Becca di Nona, Mont Emilius, Grand Combin, Becca di Viou and Mont Mary.
We believe this is a lovely place to spend some time, enjoy a slower rhythm of life and discover the beauty of the Aosta Valley. -

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
For us, hosting Workawayers is first of all an opportunity for cultural and human exchange. We enjoy meeting people from different countries, discovering new traditions and learning about different ways of life.
Food can also be an important part of this exchange. We would be very happy to discover typical dishes from your country, cook together and learn new recipes from one another.
We are both passionate about the mountains, hiking, cycling and outdoor life. Silvana has completed the Camino de Santiago and lived in Berlin for nine months when she was younger. She has also trained as a volunteer pilgrim host and occasionally volunteers along the Via Francigena, welcoming and helping people during their journey.
Claudio speaks English quite well and is passionate about Italian literature, the Tex comic books and the mountains. He has many years of experience as a hiking leader with the Italian Alpine Club and has organised numerous excursions, especially along walking routes in Liguria and in the mid-mountain areas. In the past, he also practised mountaineering.
We would be happy to share our knowledge of the mountains, local trails, Italian culture, books, travel experiences and everyday life in the Aosta Valley. At the same time, we hope to learn from the people we host: their language, food, traditions, stories, skills and personal experiences.
We believe that every person can bring something new into our home, and we hope that Workaway will allow us to create meaningful connections, exchange ideas and spend enjoyable moments together. -

Aide
We are looking for some help with small everyday tasks, both inside and outside the house.
We have a large vegetable garden and around 1,000 square metres of outdoor space, so the help may include light garden maintenance, taking care of the green areas, small repairs to the fence and other simple outdoor tasks.
Inside the house, we may need help with light household tasks and practical manual tasks. Depending on your skills, there may also be some simple carpentry or DIY creative projects.
The tasks can vary, and we are happy to adapt them according to each person’s experience and interests. -

Hébergement
We can host a minimum of one and a maximum of two Workawayers. We are also happy to welcome couples.
Workawayers will have a private bedroom and a private bathroom inside our home. At the moment, the room is accessed through the main house, although in the future it will have its own independent entrance.
During the day, Workawayers can use the kitchen to prepare their own meals. Silvana is usually at work from around 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., while Claudio is often at home, so there may also be opportunities to cook and eat together during the day. In the evening, we usually share dinner together.
I'd prefer to just share dinner, cooking together, or my husband, who prepares meals with great passion, could do the cooking...
I'm vegetarian, Claudio is omnivorous...
I'd like to let workawayers prepare their own breakfast and lunch... I have a job that keeps me busy from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm, 4 days a week...
I'll provide the kitchen and food supplies, respecting everyone's habits...
For people who prefer camping, we also have plenty of outdoor space. There are around 1,000 square metres of land surrounding the house, where it is possible to set up a tent and still use the bathroom and the facilities inside the house. Workawayers who choose to camp should bring their own tent and sleeping equipment. -
Autres infos...
Our home can be reached from Aosta by bus. There are several buses during the day, approximately at 7:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Return buses from Excenex run at similar times throughout the day.
Please note that there is no bus service on Sundays. For this reason, Workawayers without a car may be more limited on that day. The area can also be explored by bicycle or e-bike, although the roads are mountainous.
Many walking and cycling routes start directly from our home. It is possible to reach places such as Punta Chaligne, Eronneuf and Rue Bourgeois, and more experienced hikers and cyclists can continue towards the Great Saint Bernard area. It is also easy to travel down to Aosta and explore other parts of the region.
The Aosta Valley is rich in castles, museums, walking trails and mountain activities. There are opportunities for hiking, climbing, cycling and both mid- and high-altitude excursions. The region is also crossed by important walking routes such as Alta Via No. 1, Alta Via No. 2, the Via Francigena and the Cammino Balteo.
Silvana works as a museum guide at the MEGAMUSEO in Aosta, a unique archaeological museum built around an ancient megalithic site. She would be happy to share her knowledge of the museum, the history of the area and the cultural heritage of the Aosta Valley. -
