Description
About Us
We are a couple in our 60s living on a small homestead nestled between the Galtee and Knockmealdown Mountains in beautiful South Tipperary. Our adult children visit often, so there's usually a warm, lived-in energy about the place, but day to day, life here is quiet, peaceful, and connected to the land.
This is not a business or commercial farm. It's simply our home. We grow what we can, keep things as sustainable as we're able, and eat well from a kitchen that runs on home-cooked, organic meals as much as possible. We have two donkeys, two dogs, a small number of non-dairy cows, and a produce garden that keeps us going through the summer months.
We've hosted volunteers before and have spent many years working on various growing and building projects, so we know how to adapt to different people and different rhythms.
The Work
We need some practical, hands-on help with general upkeep and tidying up around the farm now that spring is here. Tasks will include:
Sorting and organising old tools and equipment
Chopping and stacking timber
General yard and garden tidying
Digging, stone work, and some heavier lifting
This is real, physical work. You'll need to be comfortable getting your hands dirty and confident with manual labour. That said, we keep things manageable: 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. We're also flexible and happy to restructure this into 3 or 4 longer days if you'd prefer more full days off for travelling or remote work.
Who We're Looking For
We'd love to hear from a single person or couple, ideally in their late 20s or older, who are:
Physically fit and accustomed to manual work
Happy in their own company and comfortable in a quiet, rural setting
Easygoing, self-motivated, and respectful of the pace of country life
We are fully LGBTQ+ friendly and welcome volunteers from anywhere in the world. We only speak English fluently, but we're always happy to try and muddle through other languages with a smile.
What We Offer
Your own private room
Home-cooked meals (we're happy to cook together or let you help yourself to the pantry)
Use of a bicycle to explore the local area
Lifts to bus connections in Mitchelstown, with easy routes to Cork, Limerick, Dublin, Waterford, and beyond
The company of two friendly dogs, two donkeys, and a very relaxed household
The surrounding area is genuinely stunning, with fantastic walking, hiking, and cycling on your doorstep, including trails through the Galtees and Knockmealdowns.
A Note on Our Home
We have the Irish gift of the gab and will happily spend evenings chatting over a cup of tea, but if you're on the quieter side, we completely respect that too. You're welcome to come and go as you please. What matters most to us is that you feel at home, safe, and comfortable here.
If any of this sounds like your kind of adventure, we'd love to hear from you. Feel free to get in touch with any questions!

Autres infos...
On your time off you can take a bike and go explore or if you want we can bring you to a bus stop where you can travel to Dublin or Cork. You're also welcome to tag along on any trips we may take to the beach or elsewhere. We have previously had volunteers and our daughter has been a volunteer herself so we are no strangers to the process. Our attitude is very much 'make yourself at home'. We're very relaxed and have no airs and graces. Come as you are and treat this place like your second home. Everyone pitches in and the job gets done.
