Description
I have temporarily left Sydney to move back to my childhood home in the south of France. I felt the need for a change of scenery, and this was the perfect opportunity to step away from city life. I will be based here until around March/ April 2026. The house has been in my family for over 30 years and was previously run as a small bed and breakfast. It sits up in the forest, surrounded by nature, with a peaceful 20 minute walk down to a small town called Céret. The nearest small city is Perpignan, about a 30 minute drive away, with Toulouse and Barcelona being the closest major cities.
The house itself is full of projects. There are many belongings to sort through, along with plenty of small renovations to be done. There is genuinely never a shortage of things to do here. I am living here with some of my family. We are currently living between Barcelona, the UK, and France, and we also have two border collies. The house has lots of space, and sometimes there will only be 2–3 people here, so we are looking to make it feel more like a home while also having some help with projects.

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
My immediate family is currently based in Barcelona and often comes down on weekends. I also have other family members and friends in the area, so the house is lived in but not busy all the time.
The house is located near the town of Céret, which has several grocery stores, small tourist attractions, a museum, and a lovely Saturday morning market.
I lived in this house between the ages of 7 and 12, and it has mostly been used as a weekend place since then. After spending the past two years working and travelling full-time, I was looking for somewhere to settle for a while, which is what brought me back here.
We have two border collies, Charlie and Jack, who love long walks in the countryside and are very cuddly.
The house itself is spacious and has two kitchens with lots of space to cook. I’m a social person but also value personal space, so there’s a good balance here. I’d be happy to organise/ host shared meals or social activities when everyone has free time!
Aide
We are clearing out my childhood family home while I spend some time living here, in preparation for a refresh and possible sale. The main focus is decluttering and organising rooms and storage areas, with some light, everyday household tasks alongside this.
The help is very low-key and mainly general maintenance such as tidying, organising, basic cleaning and light gardening. More than anything, I’m looking to have company in the house, as I cannot stay here alone while my family is in Barcelona during the weekdays.
These are all things I’ll be working on myself as part of daily life, but having extra hands and people around makes it much easier and more enjoyable. We’re looking for proactive, reliable people who are comfortable helping out a little, staying organised, and living together respectfully in a shared home.

Hébergement
Each room has a double bed and its own ensuite bathroom. Heating, bed sheets, pillows, towels and other utilities will all be provided.
Having a car is strongly recommended, as the house is not within walking distance of everything and I do not have a car.
The kitchen is fully equipped and free to use. I’ll be doing grocery runs to keep basic essentials stocked in the house.
Food is provided as part of the exchange. Breakfast and lunch ingredients will be available in the house for everyone to prepare themselves. Dinners are often shared when possible, and when we’re not eating together there will be enough food in the house for everyone to cook their own meals.
I’ll have regular grocery shops coming in to make sure basics are available, feel free to also run down to the shops, and we can organise meals together anytime. Shared meals are part of daily life in my family, but there’s also flexibility and independence.
Autres infos...
The town is about a 20 minute walk downhill and has plenty of restaurants, small shops and interesting architecture to explore. Perpignan is the closest small city, and you can reach it by taking the €2 bus from town, which takes around 30 minutes.
I usually live in busy cities, so I really enjoy slowing down here and making the most of the surrounding nature.
House rules are simple: just clean up after yourself and be respectful of shared spaces.

Possibilité d’accueillir les digital nomads
I work from home myself, so I’ll also be spending time working during the week. The focus is on getting small tasks done rather than full days of work, and having extra people around to help out when needed. You’ll have plenty of free time for your own work, exploring the area or relaxing at the house.

Espace pour garer des vans
We have a very big driveway that can fit a camper van.
