Our stay with Sean was simply amazing. He welcomed us warmly, my 2 sons (9 and 12 yo) and I, and we felt comfortable right away. Sean made sure the work he offered was varied, and rewarding. Caleb lived and worked with us on the farm for a month before he ghosted out one day leaving a filthy trailer (this was his personal space while here) and everyone wondering why he left without saying goodbye. During his stay he performed only tasks that were directly assigned to him but at least was relatively pleasant to be around. Any work that

He also seemed genuinely uninterested in learning about farming and ranching. We can only hope that Caleb learns how to communicate with other humans without making up stories and can start paying attention to the now.Feedback

If you have the opportunity to host this amazing man, do it! Ato is a seriously beautiful individual who works well with others and has a deep sense of commitment to community. This is a rare breed, cultivate it with everything you have ( and that includes both caution and fearlessness).

Sean is an inspiring soul.
I wrote to Sean and told him that my theme for my farm-stay here would be to "learn". I learned so much more than I ever thought I would. Sean has cultivated an environment that is vibrant, inviting, wild, cozy, raw, and inspiring all at the same time. He is always willing to kindly teach you more about permaculture,

We cared for chickens, sheep, and cows, while gathering raspberries, peaches, apricots, figs along with wild foraging ventures. We would swim in the pond every now and then to cool off during the summer heat. We would go rock climbing on the weekends in the beautiful sierras. We transferred a wild bee hive to Diane's home. We had many immaculate meals. I learned how to milk a cow and butcher pigs and chickens. I became a better chef during my stay here. I learned how to use a chainsaw and drop a tree. I learned how to repair irrigation systems. I learned how NOT to approach an electrical fault situation ;). I learned about holistic land management. I learned how to build a climbing wall. I learned how to plant, care for, and trim plants. There seems to be an endless list of diverse knowledge I have acquired here. Along with all the knowledge I directly learned form Sean, he has a vast library of very interesting reads that you can explore to further satisfy your hunger for knowledge.
He has cemented himself as a role model for myself in the future. The things I have learned here have inspired me to devote myself to a similar lifestyle of breathing life back into our soil and our communities in a way that is ultimately fulfilling and rejuvenating. Sean is a son, brother, teacher, chef, athlete, farmer, community leader, artist, seeker of knowledge, musician, and so much more. Choosing to come here changed my life in a beautiful direction. There are so many more positive statements to say about my stay here but you will have to come see it for yourself. Prepare yourself to work hard and see the fruit of your labor. I hope to back soon.
with love,

Tom is one of hardest working most motivated people you will ever find. I have only encountered one other work trader who even came close to his level of rural skill and attention to detail and none who were so motivated to learn. Given that I have hosted over 200 work traders, that's saying something.
Tom also takes constructive criticism

Tom stayed with us for about 6 weeks and during that time it was like having an additional farm manager on hand. It has been hard to transition to life on the farm without him. He is also clean and well organized.
Thanks for everything Tom!
If you as a host have the opportunity to host Tom, consider yourself lucky and don't miss it!

My time here was life changing. I came to California to pursue my goal of gaining new skills in agriculture and sustainable living. If you are keen and self motivated to learn about sustainable agriculture and living then Sean is your man and this place is the classroom for it. Much to learn here!

Thank you Sean for allowing me the opportunity to experience your farm, if only for a very short time.
