Description
I moved from Slovenia to the island 10 years ago.
I live by myself a dog and 3 cats. in the little own of Vis on my family property.
Regularly i go to the second property 7 km away in a secluded bay to do the work there.
My work involves a wide variety of tasks. In general its all about being creative and maintaining two properties and their surroundings.
The summertime is much different here than the winter time.
In the winter time everything shuts down and not many people stay on the island. It is calm and quiet. Only few shops and bars stay opened with not many people around. The weather is not very cold and rainy but it can be humid and windy and days are shorter.
Spring and autumn are the most beautiful seasons here. Temperature is perfect and nature blooms. People start working outdoors and preparations for the summer begin.
And summer (my less favorite) is full of tourism, boats, people... It gets hot during the day and it gets hard to do anything. But the sea is here to cool us down.
I am mostly housekeeping, cleaning, washing, gardening, taking care of my animals and doing various projects outdoors.
In the bay the tiny houses are renting in the summer so i have to maintain and arrange stuff there, for example cleaning, gardening, making an outdoor shower courtains, chopping bushes, fixing things, opening a new terrace behind the tiny house,...
I am hosting people to get help that i need and to exchange our stories. In exchange i offer my time, knowledge, food, accommodation, I show people around the island, and let them experience my island lifestyle. I had experienced where it seemed like the helpers just wanted to travel for free and I would truly like to avoid that kind of situations. You can only be helpful to us hosts as a volunteer if you will to learn and engage in how to help. I wish to host people that are engaged, active, physically adept, organized, efficient and used to live in the nature or in isolated places. I welcome individuals that are attentive and can get their hands dirty. Handy and skilled people are very welcome too. Good shoes are required. Another very important thing for me is keeping the place tidy, caring for animals and carefully using things, house equipment,... I always ask my volunteering guests to also be conscious of water consumption and other resources.

Spending time by the sea, taking a hike, biking, going for a swim or visiting beaches, visiting Vis or Komiža, or just walking around small town, reading a book on the sunshine. The island itself is just beautiful to see and hang around. Sometimes if there is an event happening and if i have time i can join you and show you around or go and meet some other local people.
If you like to stay active, independent and helpful then you will love it. I offer a lot of time to people to explore the island and sometimes i go along . The exchange depends on both parts and if we klick the experience can be beautiful for all.

WINTER 2025
Im looking for a tidy and organized person to spend the winter next door.The winter season allows me to slow down so i am doing house tasks and doing art crafts, walking a dog and hanging the laundry outside but i am spending most of the time inside. I prefer someone who already has experience with dogs and cats and understands their nature and has a certain calm, confident and stable energy. When I go to the bay to work that is usually from 11-12 am to 3-4 pm, 2 days in a week are free.
SPRING 2026
Depends on the project I need help for outdoor tasks in the bay where the terrain is very steep and rocky. I am planting trees, making gardens and chopping bushes and doing many different smaller projects and maintaining the property in town of Vis where i currently live.
SUMMER 2026
Looking for a diligent and organized person who likes to help in housekeeping chores. In the summer i need to water the garden, feed the cats and clean the tiny houses in the bay approximately twice a week. The rest of the time is free and it is possible to go swimming, visit beaches and spend a nice summer time here.
Before we come together I usually talk with my volunteers by whats app about some other details. For example about the food and routines we have. I provide 3 vegetarian or vegan meals per day on the day of help. The rest of the food we can individually bring to the house and share. There are some basic things in the house like oil , vinagre, spices...
I like to host long term (14 days or more).

My guests have their own separate very comfortable place in my family house that is next to my studio apartment in town of Vis. The house has all the comfort of a modern house and it is warm and cosy.
Depends on the situation sometimes we can be settled in the bay in one of the tiny houses.
The two tiny houses are distanced from Vis town about 7km and then another 10 minutes walk from the parking. Drinking water needs to be brought there by hand.There is no public transport except bus Vis - Komiža but it is possible to walk, bike and it is also safe for hitchhiking .
There are different kinds of animals around, mice, spiders, wasps, bees and other insects but there are no poisoned animals on the island .

Not a good transport on the island but hitchhiking or biking is an option and there is a bus going to Komiža.

If the vehicle is not too big or if you don't mind driving backwards for about 500 meters parking is above the bay - beautiful view and afternoon sun.
