Hello, Workawayers! I’m in my 40s (with a 7 year old daughter) and work remotely for a tech company from my home in beautiful Mangawhai Heads, a seaside town just 90 minutes north of Auckland. My simple surf shack is ideally situated for those who love the sea—you can reach the water from the end of my street. I am passionate about the outdoors, and my property is perfect for anyone who shares this love. There are several mountain bikes available for exploring the local trails, and with fast WiFi, you can stay connected even in this tranquil retreat. Mangawhai offers many exciting activities, including the opportunity to learn to surf, numerous hiking trails in native forest, and nearby beaches. The property offers stunning views of lush native bush and includes separate, well-appointed accommodation for guests. It's an ideal spot for work and play, blending the serenity of nature with modern comforts and a vibrant array of local activities. You'll get to live in a chilled-out Kiwi community by the beach. I love cooking and will be making a variety of different cuisines. I also have a lot of experience in travel through New Zealand, the Pacific, and Asia and will be happy to share my tips.
I am a pretty chilled out person and aim to create a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Aide
As we are currently renovating my surf shack, activities could include light painting, sanding and general maintenance. I’m always eager to exchange knowledge and skills, so if you have experience in building or DIY projects, your input would be greatly appreciated! However, tasks aren't limited to renovation; there's also the upkeep of the property’s natural surroundings, which may involve gardening or landscaping.
This setup is ideal for those who enjoy physical help and are keen to contribute to a sustainable lifestyle while learning more about self-sufficiency and property care. Whether you’re a seasoned hand or eager to learn new skills, your involvement will be a valuable part of our ongoing efforts to create a beautiful and functional living space.

Clean and spacious accommodation in its own dwelling, you get your own kitchen and bathroom, and access to a bonfire and pizza oven.
