We (Marlene 42, Wolfgang 44, Wendelin 12, Josefine 9 and Mathilda,5) have a small organic Farm in the heart of hilly Innquarter, between Passau and Linz. We breed sheep "Krainer Steinschafe", an endangered species, that we want to help to prevent from extinction. We also have some chicken, five cats, two rabbits and a fruit and vegetable garden.
After living in Vienna for 15 years and travelling the world, we overtook the farm 10 years ago, before it has been shut down for about 20 years. As the farm is much too small to make a living, we also work in our jobs- Wolfgang is a social worker, I´m a libriarian and a teacher of German as a foreign language. Despite caring about our Kids and our little farm, we love to cook, listen to Music, go on excursions and watch good movies.
The surrounding here is beautiful and quiet with some nice places to visit around, bikes can be provided. You are very welcome to join us in our home!

As being a teacher of German as a foreign language, I have a lot of ressouces, which you can use to improve your skills and I can give you some advices. Also you can use the library of Ried, which has also English books.
Despite from this we invite you to take part of our live, share some time together to talk and discuss or to go on excursions together.
Have you ever tried Kaiserschmarren, Gröstl or Bratknödel?- We are happy to prepare some typical Austrian dishes for you, although we normally prefer cooking international Food- I would love to learn new recipees :-)
As we have loads of raw whool from our sheep, you can give your fancy full scope and create your own house Slippers, potholders, bags or whatever you may need!

There is a lot of work outside- in the garden, with the sheep and chicken and we plan to do some construction works, for that it would be great, if you already have experience with it. Our kids also love to play with our guests, so you should like playing with children and spend time with them .
Beside this we are always happy to get some help with the daily works with the animals and in the house- mainly cleaning , and maintenance works to keep the chaos of a family of 5 to a tolerable limit....
We are also happy about requests for short term stays until we find a Long-stay workawayer!
We have plenty of things to do and are flexible to agree those works, that suit you most!

We provide a small, quiet room with private bathroom. It has internet access.
The small town Ried is about 5 Kilometers away, there is a railway station, a public pool, a cinema, a mall and it has a nice centre. Within a radius of 20 kilometers there is a spa and some nice small lakes, Salzburg is 50 kilometers away, Linz and Passau 60 km. The beautiful Salzkammergut is about 50 minutes by car- depending on where you go there. Bikes can be provided.
