Description
Hi and welcome! We're a family living off grid in the Italian Alps. And we're loving it here. Our visitors and us feel the joy and peace we find in our sanctuary like property. We came to live remotely. But we found we do love good company for differenth reasons. 1. It's lovely to share our alternative and simple lifestyle. 2. There's a diversity of tasks which need to be done.
Time for a brief introduction;
She; The woman of the house: Sabine is a positive lady who loves all that has to do with herbs, our vegetable garden and nature. Her creativity is incredible. Being an hypnotherapist she loves an openhearted conversation.
He: The man ;); Wouter. Ever since I was travelling I desired to find my own place to be a host for people looking for what I was looking for; I new sustainable and loving way of life. And here it is. By doing I'm developing my handycrafts skills. One of things I enjoy most is showing our babyboy the magical natural life.
Babyboy: Owin is our happy kicking and growing baby. Outside in the garden or the forest he finds his peace. But climbing and jumping up on mummy and daddy are very good activities aswell. Did I mention yet his conversational skills.
Want to know more about our place?
We're living in the mountains of Piemonte, close to Ivrea and Castellemonte. 1 hour north of Torino. The property of +/- 1.5 ha is a perfect harmony of forest and open field. In wich we try to ceate a foodforest, vegetable garden en small scale campsite.
Birds chirping, deer passing by. Water flowing in the creeks bordering our terrain.
Best time to visit?
Now! Is always the best moment. ;)
We've seen our terrain and it's surroundings going through the seasons for two years now. And to be honest, every season has it's charm.
Winter time - we're cooking in and on our woodstove. We're living with an abundance of chestnuts, so get's what's on the menu or a delightfull snack. In general winters are 'cold' but dry and sunny. Meaning we can have a spring time feeling when all the leaves are down.
Spring time - Oh my, always happy when spring coming in. Birds chirping. And flowers are turning the forest into a truth fairytale better then Rivendal. Downside from this season? There might be a bit more water pooring down then the other seasons. But the sunny days really make up for that. This year we started cooking in our outside kitchen allready early april.
Summer time - Long days, Mostly announced by an incredible lightshow brought to you by the fireflies at nighttime. As an 'early bird' I stay up to whitness this. This beats television. (... That's why we don't have one). Even though it never gets to hot, cooling down might be very delighfull in the lush green river spots.
Autumn time - Days growing shorter, nights longer. We light up the stove. And enjoy the colorfull forest surrounding us. The garden slowly loses it's glory. But there's plenty to harvest.
Living in the Alps We love it!

Since we live in nature, this a thing you'll be learning from. Sabine knows some about herbs and their capacities (and is learning). She knows how to make it into a tincture or a balm. And Wouter just likes to be outside and share this time with you. We're in for good company. And we know the secret places to visit. Obviously we're in for a good conversation. And we love to play... Maybe do some acro yoga? Love nature? Dive into one of the many beautiful natural swimming spots in the river.
Aide
Before we jump in the tasks and kind of help. Let's start with this;
1. Only do the things that inspire you.
In short we're looking for help in the garden and in/around the house. We work a lot wit natural materials, f.e. beams from the forest.
Some high on the list tasks for example in a list;
- Gardening in vegetable garden and fruitgarden
- Preparing firewood
- Creating woodstack
- Creative projects in the garden like making a shelter, compost toilet, etc..
- Helping with little upgrades on our house like assembling a wardrobe, or something like that.
- Digging - We need to set our house free from the mountain (💧) And we want to create flat spaces in the garden to sit or camp.
- Plenty things to do. Always something you like.
- Other things depending on the season.Langues parlées
Anglais: Courant
Hollandais: Courant
Italien: DébutantHébergement
Depending on the season we can offer you a stay in a campspot, or our little cosy caravan. This fits up to to adults. But, you'll be sleeping in a 2 person bed. A second small bed can be made from the little sitting part in the caravan.
In general we share all our meals. Meaning there will be 3 meals for you during the day;
Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner. We like to either cook, or taste your cooking skills. We eat vegetarian. But love our cheese, butter and eggs. Off course we try to eat as much as possible from the garden. (Sabine also knows some about edible flowers and plants) We compliment this with foods from the market.
We daily clean the dishes. When there's more people around we try to do this more frequent, in order to keep it clean.Autres infos...
Even though we live remote, it's pretty easy to find. If you follow our instructions. (provided in time) With public transport you can get to Ivrea. Or, if you have more time even up to our valley. A car obviously gives you most freedom.
We're at a 35 min drive from Ivrea, which has a train station.
Time off?
- walks up the mountain, plenty of tracks
- river visits
- Damanhur
- etc.
