Description
We live on a yard in a typical Swedish country house and 5 hectars of forest and grassland by the Råne River in the North of Sweden, about 60 km south of the Arctic Circle. We fell totally in love with this area and the Nordic lifestyle and would love to share that passion with you! We also have so many ideas and projects which we would love to share with you as well.

We live in a beautiful area in the North of Sweden.
We come from Switzerland and Germany but have been living in Sweden for a few years, so we are very familiar with the Swedish culture. It means you can learn about 3 cultures during your stay with us ;-) We have travelled a lot ourselves and love to share stories and experience and of course our passion for the Nordic lifestyle with you!
If you are interested in dogsledding or dogs in general you can learn how we care for our pack of sleddogs, train and work with them. Depending on the time period, you might join training runs with the dog cart or sled or other fun outdoor activities.
Our home is surrounded by unspoiled nature with rivers, lakes, hills and forest. Good possibilities for hiking, fishing, swimming, biking, bird watching and generally enjoying nature. You can use a bike during your stay. There is a bus connection to Boden and you can also use a car to drive to the city or to nearby sights after agreement. In only 3 km you reach the cozy village Gunnarsbyn with a shop, church and gas station. During summer there are summer cafés, concerts and other fun events. During autumn and winter there is a small cinema. The next sand beach by the river is a 7 km away, the Baltic Sea 40 km. During winter all kinds of winter activities are possible just around the corner.Aide
During summer and autumn (June - November) we have a lot of smaller and bigger projects, building, painting, general maintenance and some creative fun projects. The help might include clipping grass, cutting trees, painting, tidying up, gardening and help with the household. To our family also belong 18 friendly huskies and if you like dogs, also feeding and spending time with them could be part of your help.
During winter (December - April) shoveling snow is a regular part of the help and can be physically challenging on days with a lot of fresh snow. You are welcome to help us take care of our beloved four legged family members and learn about dog sledding and other Arctic skills :-)
Important to us is that you like to work in a team but also can work on easier tasks independently and you see where help is needed and don´t just walk away from it. We like to work and have a positive attitude towards all kinds of tasks and projects and we expect the same from you. What you do exactly depends not only on what there is to do but also on what you are good at and what you would like to learn.Langues

They are very friendly and nice people and we fell in love with their incredible husky dogs, all very happy, cuddly and playful, but at the same time with totally different personalities!
We learned so many new things about huskies and we love that they take great care of them… read more
As a volunteer you have to be reselient against the cold as most of the work is done outdoors. You won't get your hands dirty, as everything is frozen haha but don't be afraid of… read more
They explained what needed to be done and then I was free to organize my time! Working with the dogs was amazing! They are nice and friendly and, after you know them better, you will realize each of them have its own… read more
