    Description

First i would like to inform you that when I am looking for people for the project, I like to write to several workawayers. This is because not everyone I write to responds back. So if you like the project and want to come, it is recommended that you respond quickly, so that the place is not given to someone else. I would also like to clarify that I have been smoke-free for 6 weeks now, so I prefer people who do not smoke because the temptation and smell may tempt me to start smoking again. I ask that you respect that.

I would also like to tell you that I have two bicycles on the farm, a men's bicycle with 3 gears and one for young people with 21 gears that are available to everyone on the farm. I also have tents and sleeping mats to lend if you want an overnight trip out in the field.
When I was a child and lived with my parents and siblings, we used to move out into the barn in the sumer with both cooking and sleeping while the house was rested and cleaned. This was an exciting time for both adults and children. It has made me think that the barn could be used as a summer home with cooking on a wood-burning stove, heating water with a fire. To make this happen, there will probably be some improvements and redecoration of the barn here where I live now. So I am happy to accept ideas and help to implement these things. I think it will also be interesting for my workers to participate in this work and at the same time get a little introduction to what life in the countryside was like when I was growing up. It would be an advantage if you have experience turning on machines, as this is probably a neglected task on my part. I have a few lawnmowers and other motorised machinery that need some small scale care from time to time to keep them running smoothly. I am also looking for people who have experience with cooking and cleaning. If you have an idea for a project that could help make the property cozy, I would be happy to hear your ideas. I hope you find it interesting to help with the project.

Hello workawayers, and welkome to my site.

    The midnight sun in Grovfjord.
From May 22 to July 21, you can experience . During this period, the sun never sets below the horizon, and it is light all day long.
The midnight sun appears when the northern hemisphere is facing the sun. This ensures that the light that shines on the Earth during the day reaches the side where it is night. Since the Earth is slightly tilted, the midnight sun appears here in the summer. This phenomenon occurs north of the Arctic Circle or south of the Antarctic Circle and is visible at night. So when the sun is awake 24/7, something happens to all of us. We turn the day and night upside down, and go fishing at night. Or we go hiking.
    Aurora Borealis.
Here in Grovfjord when there are great weather conditions to see and experience it. If there is little rainfall and a cloudless sky, then it dances in the sky during the dark season.
Various legends are connected with the northern lights. The symbols of the Northern Lights were traditionally painted on the Sami shamanistic drum. There are several names in Sami language for this natural phenomenon, one of them is "Guovssahas", which means "the light that is heard."
According to an old Sami legend, the Aurora Borealis (northern lights) appears in the sky when an arctic fox runs through the North Pole and sweeps snow sparks into the sky. The Finns call the heavenly extravaganza the "revontule", which translates into Russian as "fire driver".
In the Viking Age, the northern lights were believed to be reflections of the weapons of the Valkyries, that is, warrior maidens, taking warriors to Valhalla's move.
The Northern Lights are actually electrical in nature.
Most of the charged particles from the solar wind that reach our planet are reflected. But some still manage to break through the Earth's magnetic field. These particles form a glow when they collide with air molecules in the upper atmosphere (about 100 km above the planet's surface). Yellow, green and red colors arise due to oxygen content in the air, and the blue and purple shades stand for nitrogen. The scientific name - aurora borealis - got a glow in honor of the Roman goddess of dawn. I hope that you will find it intresting. Now I have told you about the northern lights. But northern Norway is so much more. How about a day trip in the mountain where you can be surunded by beautiful nature. The 3 the largest islands in Norway less than 3 hours' drive away. you can also find old historic buildings which are not far avay from Grovfjord . You can also visit, for example, fish restaurants that prepare the fish in the old traditional Norwegian way. Several museums are also available in the close eara . Polarpark about an hour's drive from me, is also worth a visit, there you can see many of the wild animals found in the Norwegian fauna and this is very popular among tourists, it is also possible to buy souvenirs from the park with the park's animals on them. These are just some of the things I come up with while I'm sitting here updating my profile
Helping at my place will give you knowledge about northern norwegian and some sami culture. I literally love sitting outside with something good on the grill and in a glass when the weather permits. I think that's when the good conversation comes and we can talk to each other in a more informal way and not just talk about what needs to be done on the farm.Sometimes I can offer trips and nature experiences, depending on season, it can be boat trips, fishing trips, Mountain hiking, skiing... Etc. Of the sights in Grovfjorden, one can mention the House in the Sea, which is an old school building that is today mainly used for cafe operation and rental for various events. It is not open every day, but the locals try to stay open on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the year. In the summer it is open each day.We also have a power plant museum about 5 km from where I live, sometimes can I make an agreement about a guided tour of the museum. We have many marked hiking trails in the local area and a trip on the "Krigstien" can be exciting, this tells about World War II in Grovfjord. If you have a qr scanner on your phone, you can use this in several languages. There are on display copies of fex a cannon and one which the occupiers also set up trenches used to stop the allies' attempt to recapture Grovfjord, after it had fallen. The information is in several languages and there is also additional information on the qr code that can be scanned, this is also in several languages. When it comes to the paths in the area, these are often named after who used or found the best route from one place to another, this is also the sign. Grovfjorden is a fjord whit open sea all year round, but where the inner part of the fjord is iced over in winter. It is a good fishing fjord that can be fished both from land and by boat. There is also a private man who has collected objects and tools from ancient times and this may also be worth a visit. I would be happy to arrange for you at the weekends if you would like to visit sights in the immediate area such as Senja, Lofoten, Vesterålen or other places. However, it is a prerequisite that the costs for the trip are agreed in advance. Ps There is open sea all year round, so ice bathing is also possible and finely the swimming pool at the school here in the village has also opened and I can sometimes offer sauna and swimming pool stays when you are here. The school is located approximately 100 meters from my house. I also want to have a workaway event in the barn when this is finished. Then I will invite workawayers here to Grovfjord, where we can meet, talk and plan things that can make us good friends.

outdoors; Carpentry and machine skills on a simple scale are also of interest

house: help with cleaning, washing, cooking.

Food: I will be happy if we can eat the food together and if we can help prepare the food.
To the extent that we want to eat at a restaurant, each of us buys our own food.
Autumn is usually enormous amounts of mushrooms in the forest, so if you know mushrooms, it's an eldorado. Many people also appreciate fishing with a rod from shore, I can't guarantee a catch every time, but quite often I would say. It is expected that the private room and access to it will be left in the same clean condition as when you arrived here. I would like some ideas on how to mark the planks in a house that I will maybe will move sometime in the future.

If you like to pick berries or mushrooms, there is a lot of this in the area. There are also several campfires in the immediate vicinity, so it is a perfect place for outdoor activities. I have a men's bike and a pair of skis to lend to my workawayers. To get to Grovfjord, you can of course drive here if you have a car, otherwise there is an airport at Evenes. You can also take a train to Narvik from youre plase. Public transport options to and from Grovfjord are poor, but there is a bus to Grovfjord Monday to Friday. It is also possible to ask me to pick you up at the airport (Evenes) or the train station (Narvik) and I will be happy to do so if I can. There are also well-marked hiking trails in the outback, and these range from short, easy hikes to summit hikes that probably take the whole day. So it's just a matter of choosing which tours you want to embark on.
