Description
Travel has transformed my life.
To me, traveling is more than just going outside of my comfort zone. It's a way to experience everything that unites us as humans on this planet. Seeing the diversity of our world is breathtaking. 🌏

I love diving into a new language, and I've picked up parts of many languages in my travels. When I was in college, I studied Japanese independently, enjoying some of Heisig's books, and listening to podcasts to practice. In terms of teaching, I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy teaching English until I had the opportunity to teach some classes at a small school in northern India. The students were so enthusiastic, and I loved it. I enjoy it when someone asks me a difficult question about my mother-tongue, too, because it spurs me on to learn something new. I enjoy diagramming sentences, explaining grammar, and understanding the history of the words we love and use every day. Language is perhaps the most fascinating, and useful, technology that we humans have ever invented; and I love empowering people with it in new ways.Compétences et connaissances que j'aimerais partager ou apprendre

To start, I have a degree in Graphic Design, but I've branched out a bit since graduating.
I'm a 6-time, award-nominated author of Tropical Sci-Fi and Hawaii Nonfiction. My books have over 700+ reviews on Amazon. If you're curious to see my work and reviews, you can visit: Amazon.com/author/crusoe

My love for things like workaway started when I first did work-trade at a hostel on the Big Island of Hawaii. It changed my life, and I've appreciated intentional communities, and the opportunities of volunteering, ever since.
In addition to writing, I do freelance graphic design and video editing work remotely. I also have extensive experience building websites. I'm proficient in Logic X's audio editing tools, and I have extensive experience in video editing using Final Cut Pro. I've taught English, and I've also done a lot of one-on-one tech tutoring for small business owners.
I'm happy to take your project to the next level with any of my skills, including teaching how to use any of these programs.
I also enjoy service where I can listen to audiobooks while I work, such as painting or cleaning. Years ago, I even volunteered for SlowFood Wisconsin, helping them in the kitchen; and later FoodNotBombs, preparing and serving food to the homeless.
And if I have a chance to cook for you, I can make my famous cashew-based cheese sauce, completely dairy-free! 😋Âge

Autres infos...
I love board games, actually! I was very into Settlers of Catan for a while. Competent in Chess, but not my first choice. Stratego is an old favorite. Open to finally learning Go if you're a good teacher.
I also love pushing the limits of photography, including underwater photography. These days, I'm fascinated by the nature of reality itself. Did consciousness come first or did physical matter? Will we ever become a Type 1 civilization? Or, for that matter, will we ever land on Mars? I hope so. All disciplines of science, especially astronomy, are major interests of mine.
From exploring Mont Saint-Michel, to hitchhiking to Loch Ness, to interviewing a druid at Stonehenge, to hiking the French Calanques, to boating the Bosphorus Strait, to basking in a sunset view of Annapurna in Nepal, and so much more, I have been thankful to explore 12 countries, Japan being my latest.Informations complémentaires

Allergies
Very minor cat allergy, however my Japanese housemate in Hawaii had a cat, and I was fine. Dogs are okay. I grew up with a retriever!Régime alimentaire spécial
I'm lactose intolerant, so I can't have diary products like milk. I'm 100% plant-based. However, I don't ever expect anyone to cook for me; I can take care of myself, so no worries :)
