Hi workaway,

This fall I will begin an exploration by bicycle, following my love of traditional music and hoping to volunteer with folks that share my interest in conscientious, sustainable living. I had such incredible experiences volunteering in Ireland a few years ago and believe it is such a wonderful way to travel and open one's heart.

A little bit more about me - I am on hiatus from my professional work as a restoration botanist in California, and am instead putting my focus on living a more grounded, connected and environmentally-conscious life. I spend my free time foraging, cooking, playing irish and jazz music, spending time with neighbors and friends, tending to my mindfulness practices, and riding my bike. I get into all sorts of DIY projects from fixing electronics to weaving willow trellises, I love cooking for others, and have done various types of volunteer and farm work over the years that has given me the gift of many friendships.

As a workawayer, I'm truly happy to help where help is needed and am simply grateful for the chance to connect and share a little time together. I'm quite confident in my gardening skills, and am especially keen on natural building projects (thatch roofing one day!!), cooking for folks, and working with fiber and dairy animals.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My professional training is as a botanist, but I have also spent time working as a farm hand and garden manager, helping out with construction projects, providing child care, and cooking delicious food. I've done website design, organized volunteers and work crews, worked in the mental health field, and generally enjoy jumping into new things with enthusiasm.

Specialties? Playing ukelele in airports, cutting your hair, knitting baby hats, killing houseplants and making cordage out of horseradish stalks. I'm also pretty into fermentation these days...plum soda is delicious!
