Looking for a new experience around Vancouver in May & June 2026. I get along well with kids, I love DIY projects, I enjoy gardening and cooking. I'm fluent in English and French is my first language.

Description

Hi everyone!

My name is Victor. I’m 29 years old and I come from the French-speaking part of Switzerland.

My goals with Workaway are to meet new people, learn new things, build more Canadian experience and continue improving my English skills.

I arrived in Vancouver in August 2025. I studied English at a language school until October, and then I spent the winter season working at Mount Seymour as a ski instructor. I taught children, teenagers, and adults aged from 3 to 60.

My last five years working as an Engineer offered me advanced organizational, proactive and technical skills.
I really enjoy DIY projects. I designed and built a fully homemade camper van from a FIAT Ducato, and I also renovated the old ground floor of my grandparents’ house to create a comfortable apartment for my first place to live. Since I was young, I have often helped my father, who is a landscaper, with many outdoor projects and practical work.

In addition, I truly enjoy spending time with children. I’m patient, creative, and experienced. I have worked as both a soccer coach and ski instructor for several years, and I am also the godfather of a 3-year-old boy back home.

Finally, I enjoy cooking, doing outdoor sports, and discovering new places and cultures.

I am available from the end of May to the end of June 2026 (approximately 3 to 4 weeks).

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Ski Instructor from December 2025 to March 2026 at Mount Seymour.

My professional experience began with a 4-year Swiss CFC[1] in technical automation, where I developed strong skills in mechanics, electrical systems, and programming. After completing this apprenticeship, I worked for one year as a Maintenance Technician in the food industry, specifically in a coffee capsule manufacturing facility.
[1] CFC = Federal Certificate of Competence (Swiss vocational apprenticeship)

Following this initial experience, I decided to broaden my skill set by earning a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management. I then spent four years working in the pharmaceutical industry as a Production and Process Engineer, where I developed strong communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.

I enjoy manual work and have hands-on experience with vehicle-to-campervan conversions, apartment renovations (including electrical wiring, masonry, flooring, ceilings, kitchen installation), and general maintenance. I also enjoy gardening, a skill I learned from my father, who is a landscape gardener.

In addition, I love working with children. I’ve been a ski instructor for kids aged 5 to 15 for over 10 years, and a football coach for children aged 5 to 10 for more than 6 years. Moreover, I'm the godfather of a 2 yo little boy and love have time with him.
