Description

Hi, my name is Tim.

I'm 31 and from Muloobinba/Newcastle, Australia. I love meeting new people, learning about local cultures and music and exploring new places. I am hoping workaway will give me the opportunity to experience places more authentically, engage with people living in the area and be part of a community building a better environment for themselves and others.

When at home I work as a barista and cook at a small cafe and a musician performing multiple times a week playing mainly folk, jazz and improvisational music.

I previously worked as a teacher and sometimes receptionist in a music school so am familiar with helping people achieve personal goals and keeping rosters and timetables organised. I am naturally a happy and friendly person who enjoys making people feel welcome to a space.

I'm new to workaway and happy to take on any role that seems fit. I am healthy, active and used to doing physical work and problem solving. I can work independently but also love working in teams.

I am passionate about food and cooking. I love cooking for large groups, sharing food and learning about new techniques and cuisines. I have a good knowledge of the kitchen and always keen to learn more.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Hospitality: My latest job is in a cafe with specialist coffee, working as both the barista and cook. I am passionate about both these areas but especially food. I have good cooking skills and love preparing meals for groups. I have a great knowledge of vegan food but am comfortable working with food from any source. I also love the customer service side of this job. As it is a small cafe I have a lot of opportunity to interact and really connect with regulars.

Musical skills: I have a lot of experience performing (mainly double bass and electric bass) on stages from small gigs to major festivals in Australia. I have organised lots of gigs myself as well as some small festivals. I have taught private tuition for bass, piano and guitar (the last two only for beginners). I can also operate sound equipment and have run doors/ticket sales for concerts.

Garden/lawn care skills. I have experience in lawn care and general yard maintenance. Don't mind getting my hands dirty. I also am fit and get into DIY projects although have no building or construction skills.

Other areas I have worked/have skills in: cleaning, receptionist, natural/alternative health, surfing. I am a native English speaker for those wanting to improve English skills.

Music is a major passion of mine, I love playing it, listening to it, learning about it and seeing it performed. My main instrument is double bass and I naturally gravitate towards various folk music traditions as well as more experimental/art styles. I would love to connect with other musicians and lovers of music.

I love to spend time outdoors, especially the ocean! Going bushwalking/hiking, snorkeling, surfing or just walking around a new area is a great day for me. Having new friends to do these things with makes it even better!
