Hi there fellow human :)
We are Chris and Paula. Like you, we're bits of God stuffed into bodies, exploring this life :) We lived in Germany until we left in summer '25. We're artists (Paula: photographer; Chris: videographer & photographer, but video & film are the greater passion) and have a strong wanderlust. Together, we want to explore the world, connect with people whose souls also crave MORE than what we've been taught, and discover places where we can thrive, in balance between creation and regeneration. We love nature, we love animals, we love creating in various forms, and we love evolving and learning. Currently, we're traveling Costa Rica :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
We both are creative with a sense of aesthetics, order, and cleanliness, especially Chris (but not obsessively so :D). Paula is a pragmatist, practical thinking, organization, and improvisation are her strengths. Chris is the executor and diligently and swiftly carries out tasks. In areas where he has experience, he is a planning and organizational talent, always prepared for anything. And if you need a motivational workout buddy, he's probably the guy.

We are both rather practical, rather smart and not afraid to get our hands dirty. We are also strong and fit, and we like to lend a hand, whether independently or in collaborative work. We bring some experience working with plants and animals from a time when we had our own garden. We get along with pets very well :)

We love cooking together and have experience in preparing meals for more people than just the two of us, with a preference to keep it simple and healthy. We have some amazing staple dishes we'll gladly introduce you to!

Chris can capture anything in moving pictures and make it look stunning. Paula loves to assist in this process and put the subject or environment in the best light. Additionally, she has an intuitive knack for writing, editing, formatting, and some experience with social media, planning posts, etc. Also, she loves making spaces more beautiful and harmonious, coming up with creative ideas how to change and improve things.

We're allrounders - enjoy discovering our many (hidden) talents :D

We enjoy meeting new people and listening to their stories, and we very much enjoy conversations that delve deeper than the superficial - the interesting stuff often lies beneath the surface. We love personal growth, movement, tranquility, spirituality, and spiritual practices (such as yoga, breathwork, meditation..), as well as earthly pleasures like cooking and eating delicious & healthy food, laughing, good music, playing, and having fun. We don't smoke, we don't drink alcohol. We value restful sleep, open, honest, and clear communication, and we are lively, humorous, kind, compassionate, respectful and curious about life in various places on this planet :)

hello :)
we, paula and chris, spent about 5 months in markus’ house in dafins, from summer into late autumn.
markus’ hospitality is absolutely on point and we deeply appreciated it. we couldn’t have chosen a better host for our first workaway experience – that doesn’t mean it was always easy :) but it doesn’t always have to be easy – every… read more experience is valuable. we navigated very beautiful and very challenging times together and everything contributed greatly to our personal growth.
let’s be honest: the work is partly (depending on the area) very demanding and can sometimes drive you a little crazy – which is usually self-imposed – because there is always space to communicate. but that lies within one’s own responsibility. if you manage to open your mouth, peaceful solutions are found in conversation, whether one-on-one with the lord of the house or within the group. markus has a huge heart, big ears that listen well, and open arms when you need a hug. nobody’s perfect and putting ideals into practice is rarely easy – but a level of openness to criticism like markus shows is something we have rarely – maybe never – experienced before. he genuinely cares about fairness and about everyone being well. of course, sometimes annoying work has to be done, but there is a general interest in balancing that out with cool work as well – unless you want to torture yourself, then you’re free to do annoying work for days. you have that freedom too – you just need to be aware that everything you don’t change, you choose. :)
the man has big visions, but you can contribute at your own pace, in the things that suit you or that you’re interested in. we found that mega.
for the work you do, you get a lot back, and we would judge the exchange as really fair. the rooms are comfortable, the care and the food are fantastic (when someone cooks who knows how ;D). right now, sitting in costa rica eating the best papaya in the world, we’re dreaming of rob’s delicious bread and the amazing local cheese.
we experienced quiet as well as turbulent times – it can get pretty busy when the house is full, but we have hope that the occupancy of the house will be a bit more balanced in the future ;D cooking for more than 10 people is quite something, but also a good exercise for life, like so much of what you experience here. no skill is useless!
overall, there are endless opportunities for growth here. if you want, you have time for yourself, and you can also build enriching connections, form friendships with people from all over the world. you'll probably laugh your butt off with amazing people you otherwise would've never met, and maybe you'll shed a few tears too when saying goodbye. a perfect training ground to practice social intelligence, emotional intelligence, communication. there is so much to learn :)
we’re forever grateful for our time in dafins and are already looking forward to coming back. we love you, magda, rob, markus, luter, akira and the duckies :) kisses and hugs to you all!

Paula and Chris stayed with me as Workawayers for about 4.5 months, and I could not have wished for better support during this time. They both integrated seamlessly into our household and projects and brought a huge amount of reliability, responsibility, creativity, and heart into everything they did.

Paula quickly became the heart and soul of… read more the house. She took care of so many things, often without even being asked. She did beautiful sewing projects, became our “label queen” by labelling all the important things for Workawayers, cooked super delicious meals, and constantly made sure the kitchen was well stocked and organised. She planned organic food orders online, sold my used tech equipment second hand and took care of the packaging, prepared and tidied the rooms for new Workawayers and washed the sheets after they left. I could always rely on her – whenever I asked for something, I knew it would be done properly. She designed lovely signs for rooms, tools and instructions (from how to empty the vegetable and fruit barrels from the organic store to how to start the weed whacker and mix fuels correctly). She was a key contact person for new Workawayers, answered their questions with patience and clarity, and took a huge amount of mental load off me. She picked fruits, berries, and garden produce and turned them into great meals. On top of that, she completely polished and improved my Workaway profile text, sorted lots of pictures, and used her talent in photography and image editing to create many wonderful photos of the place. I am deeply grateful for that.

Chris was equally invaluable in a wide range of tasks. He did everything from changing straw in the duck house, helping with the compost barrels from the organic food store, mulching, collecting hay, leaf blowing, putting up fences, taking care of the ducks and feeding them, to looking after plants, digging holes, extending the dead-hedge from branches, planting trees, organising materials and spaces, and cleaning. He also helped coordinate tasks among Workawayers and answered their questions. He is a very gifted photographer and videographer; he created two truly cinematic-grade videos of my place that captured unique moments I will never forget. He took over responsibility for recurring tasks and made sure things were actually done, not just talked about. For about one month, when I was not able to properly attend to Workaway myself, he fully took over the Workaway management – morning meetings, task distribution, answering questions, watching out for everyone’s safety and well-being. That support was priceless.

On a personal level, both Paula and Chris are very spiritual, wise souls. It is easy to talk with them about anything, from everyday topics to deeper life questions. They are very open in their communication, happy people who like to laugh, have fun, and make jokes, while at the same time being mature, grounded adults. They are highly motivated to make a positive change, to contribute wherever they are, and to leave a meaningful mark wherever they go.

Both Paula and Chris are incredibly trustworthy, proactive, and thoughtful people. They gave very helpful feedback – also to me personally in stressful moments – and contributed not only with their hands but also with their minds and hearts. I am extremely grateful for the time we shared, and I would host them again without hesitation.

Every host can consider themselves extremely lucky if Paula and Chris apply to stay with them.
