Hi! My name is Rachel. I recently lived abroad and really enjoyed having a longer period of time to explore other countries and get to know their cultures! I'm hoping Workaway can give me more opportunities like that--meeting people, being introduced to their ways of life, and understanding other countries besides my own!

I love being creative and playing in sports scrimmages with friends. Pottery, drawing, and writing are some creative hobbies I enjoy, while ultimate frisbee, sand volleyball, and soccer are some sports I like!

I can't cook, but I do enjoy baking, and I'd love to be introduced to new foods (and maybe even learn how to make them ;) . Also, feel free to show me board games or outdoor recreation you like.

I can teach English and Spanish! I'm a native English speaker, and I've lived in Spanish-speaking countries before, so I can hold my own speaking/writing/etc. only in Spanish. :) I'd especially love to learn French, Italian, and Japanese, but I'd be open to any language you have to offer!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I've spent the last three years working in schools and teaching English as a second language to Spanish-speaking children! My experience is with kids aged 3-14. I love being playful & encouraging the imagination of younger kids, and I enjoy being more sarcastic with older children. (I used to be a camp counselor when I was younger, haha.) I do speak Spanish, maybe a B1 or B2 level. So, overall, if you want to practice English, Spanish, or want someone to play & care for your kids, we could be a good fit. :)

Besides the language stuff, I like anything creative. Painting, drawing, clay...any sort of projects where you need finishing touches, I got you!

I also like plants. I won't say I'm the most nature savvy, but I don't mind gardening and would be interested in learning more about it! Same with cooking. :) If you show me the typical meal you like, I'd follow your lead and assist in making it until I could make it on my own to serve you! Or, if you just need an extra hand chopping vegetables, making & kneading dough, or washing dishes, I've got you covered. ;)

While I enjoy playing sports, I enjoy more solo tasks like hiking, going to the beach, or going for runs/walks, too. I also like nights in; watching a good movie, playing a card or board game, reading--and of course then nerding out about those things and discussing them with others!

I can be chatty and excited when I'm comfortable with others, but I still appreciate time alone to recharge or reflect on the day, so don't worry about me needing constant time together. I'm used to being pretty independent and figuring things out as needed, so if you give me the tools/instructions I need to be successful, I'll gladly take up the task and get to work. :) An ideal workaway experience for me probably entails a balance of working together, sharing pastimes together, and also time apart, doing our separate tasks and enjoyed hobbies. :)

Oh, and I've had dogs (and my family has cats!), so I have some experience with animals and caring for pets.
