Description

Melody is from St. Lucia where she spent time swimming at the beach, playing music in her orchestra and being with family. She left home for the first time at 17 to study music, first travelling to Venezuela for 4 months and then to Chicago in the US to complete her 4 year bachelors degree program. Teel is from McPherson, Kansas and moved to Chicago for college where he met his life-long best friends. Melody and Teel officially met at an intentional community in Chicago called Jesus People where they lived until last year. 

We both have grown to value community life, sharing resources and intergenerational relationships. Community can be both fulfilling and challenging, so after getting married in June 2023, we are travelling for 12 months to reset and see new places! Melody's favourite thing is to be in nature and Teel loves the buzz of city life. We love talking about the deeper things of life, watching a good film or playing a board game, but also ready to work as a team and make things happen. We think work away is such a beautiful way to give back for all that we are receivng and excited to meet you and help with your next project!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Wel have both lived in an intentional community which has allowed many experiences with working and living with people. Including

- conflict management
- sharing resources
- cooking meals for a large group of people
- cleaning bathrooms and common spaces
- visionary work

We both play music. Teel plays guitar, banjo, Ukulele, harmonica, piano and Melody plays violin. Teel writes music (singer songwriter folk indie style) and Melody writes poetry and loves creating string arrangements.

Melody volunteers part time/remotely with a non profit organization called Human Values Collective where she has worked in fundraising, event planning and systems management.

Teel has received training and helped lead projects around social dynamic governance and intentional community living.

Melody and Teel are always ready to learn! We are happy to plant, build, lift, carry, paint, cook, water, explore and chat. Although neither of us are super strong people, we love working as a team to do what we can.
