Description
About me 😊:
I am Mayu, 26-year-old Japanese, digital nomad teaching Japanese online! I started backpacking when I was 19, and since then it has become my passion! I've visited 45 countries so far and am excited to visit more places and meet new people and culture :)
Likes and dislikes:
I love nature, hiking, mountains, beaches, cycling, books, taking pictures etc. I have climbed Mt. Fuji (the tallest mountain in Japan) twice, and a few more mountains in Japan, volcan de Acatenango / Fuego in Guatemala, Mt. Salcantay in Peru, and done lots of amazing hikes like in several national parks in US, Parque Nacional de Tayrona in Colombia, Parque Nacional Huascaran in Peru, Torres del Paine in Chine, Logos de los Tres in Argentina, etc. I used to work in a corporate in NYC and rode my Citi bike for 30 minutes every day to go the office. I have also done Shimanami Kaido cycling road (cyclist sanctuary in Japan). For books I only read in Japanese but I especially like mystery / suspense books.
I don't have mainstream social media like Instagram, X, TikTock, or Facebook.
I like tea more than coffee. I don't drink nor smoke. I love music, but I don't enjoy 'loud 'music or sound. I am not a party person but more someone who appreciate silence, nature, peaceful moments.
Experiences:
I was backpacking in Latin America for a year in 2024/2025 and I loved my experiences!
I have done several workaway project including helping a regenerative farm in Belize, working in a coffee farm in Ecuador, caring horses in El Salvador, taking care of dogs and cats in Mexico, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica, and maintaining the hostel and fixing stuff in Honduras and Colombia!
Language:
I speak English and Japanese fluently, intermediate Spanish and a little bit of French.
Finally:
