Hi!

I'm Rohit, a biophysicist and genomics researcher currently taking a well-earned break between jobs. I've been travelling since March of 2025, with stops across 20+ countries, a couple of Workaways, and a paragliding course that got me in the air for the first time.

I genuinely love working with my hands. In my current Workaway in Tenerife I've been doing a lot of gardening and carpentry — building custom cat trees, feeding stations, and play structures from scratch. That's on top of a longer journey that's included teaching English in the Peruvian Amazon, woodworking in Japan, working on an alpaca farm in Bavaria, and spending time at a paragliding school in Andalusia.

Whether it's fixing something, cooking a meal, tutoring a kid, or untangling a tech problem — I'm happy to roll up my sleeves. I pick things up fast, get along well with people of all ages, and I'm genuinely here to contribute, not just pass through.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I love learning languages and picking up new skills wherever I go — Spanish is my current focus. I have a background in biomedical research, but I'm taking a deliberate break from the lab during my travels and much prefer working with my hands.
Over the past months I've done a lot of gardening — weeding, planting, pruning, and growing vegetables, herbs and fruit — and quite a bit of carpentry, including building custom cat trees, feeding stations, and play structures from scratch. Beyond that, I'm comfortable with general maintenance, minor repairs, painting, and most things that need fixing around a house or garden.
I have extensive experience with animals: I've pet-sat for cats, dogs, bunnies, chickens and rodents, worked on an alpaca farm in Bavaria, and in my current Workaway in Tenerife I've been caring for cats and large dogs daily. I'm confident and calm with animals of all sizes and temperaments.
During university I tutored to support myself, and I still really enjoy teaching — science, maths, English or German, for kids of any age. I helped raise my nephews (one as a newborn, one at age 5) so I'm very comfortable and patient with young children too.

I've been travelling since April — backpacking and road-tripping across 20+ countries — and I'm always looking for the next adventure. I love being active outdoors and play football and volleyball whenever I get the chance. I'm into adventure sports too: I've tried skydiving, jet skiing, and white-water rafting, and I recently got my first flights in as part of a paragliding course — hopefully getting my wings this October.
When I'm not on the move I enjoy chess (happy to play or share a few tips!), board games, and card games with good company. I'm very social and love conversation — especially over food or drinks. Fun fact: I used to do competitive trivia, though in the age of Google that might be a dying art!
