Hello!

My name is Rachel and I am an early childhood educator and social worker from Canada. I am interested in living somewhere new and hopefully utilizing Workaway to help me build connections and explore life in a new location.

My work and education experience has been broad and this has taught me the critical skill of being adaptable. Throughout my post secondary studies in nursing and social work, I worked with a wide variety of populations, from youth in court and seniors in long term care to adults with serious mental illness. I have also done serving, bartending and barista work. For the past two years, I have been a social worker for families of children with special needs, and this rewarding and challenging role has taught me so much. As I start a new chapter of adventure, I hope to find many more opportunities to share my curiosity, care and passion. =)

In the years preceding the pandemic, I was lucky enough to have traveled all over Europe, Canada, Peru, Thailand and Vietnam. I am a native English speaker with beginner Spanish language skills. To me, the most valuable part of travel, and life, is the people we are lucky enough to meet along the way and the stories they share with us.

I find myself most at home in nature, and adore yoga, hiking and most forms of physical activity. My other interests include reading, space and art. I love music, and play guitar and sing in my spare time.
