I am motivated by my sense of curiosity and compassion for the world and its inhabitants, both human and non-human. I am determined to never let my inner child die, as that is why adulthood becomes depressing and monotonous for people (at least in the US...I cannot speak for other countries). I love to learn: whether it be a new skill, random fun facts, important history, etc. I feel the happiest when I am making genuine connections with other humans, and also staying connected to mother nature.

I was born in North Carolina, a state on the eastern coast of the United States. I am fluent in English. I have a university degree and am well-versed in English grammatical rules and spelling. I am very interested in language exchange, as it is a life goal of mine to become bilingual. I have some Spanish knowledge, but I would classify it as beginner level. I am better at interpreting things that people say/write, rather than saying it myself, but I aim to one day achieve a level of speaking where I can actually hold a conversation in another language. Learning another language is important to me because it opens up opportunities to connect with more people. I mostly want to learn Spanish just because I have a foundation for it already, but I am very open to learning any languages! I am also open to teaching English to anybody, whether it be adults or children!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

CHILDCARE:
I have experience in childcare, and love children. I have worked as a babysitter many times, and also worked in my city's local school system as an on-site before and after school counselor. Through this job I was responsible for monitoring the needs and safety of around 30 children at a time, along with coming up with creative crafts or games to keep the children entertained. I am a very patient person, and am great with all ages, although I am most experienced with children ages 3 to 10.

ANIMAL CARE:
I have the most experience with cats, as I owned one for almost 15 years. She recently passed away in March of 2023, and it was heartbreaking, but showed me that I am stronger than I realize. Now that I do not have the commitment of a pet, I am beginning my journey of traveling the world, and would love to be around animals. My household also had dogs (both large and small) when I was growing up.

COOKING:
I have been plant-based for about 7 years, and I love to experiment with new foods and tastes. I have fun making food for my friends, and showing them how delicious vegan food can be!
(*note: I do stick to a mostly vegan diet, but would be willing to be vegetarian if it makes it easier for a host. I am not comfortable eating meat though)

CREATIVE:
I like to think outside of the box and engage in creative ventures. Although I am no professional, I love to draw, and would describe my style as vibrant and more abstract/cartoon. I am great with poster designs, bubble/block letter styled writing, and making effective and eye-catching PowerPoints or flyers.

PERSONALITY ATTRIBUTES:
I am known as a positive and sunshine-y person, and am told my energy is infectious. I am curious, open-minded, reflective, patient, empathetic, hardworking, and a quick learner. I am sociable and love meeting new people and having good conversation, although I sometimes need my alone time to recharge after a long day. I love the outdoors and being active.
If there is work that is needed to be done that I do not have a certain skill-set for, I am more than happy to learn. If given a bit of guidance I can pick things up very quickly and with a good attitude. Although a relaxing day is great, for the most part I am a person who thrives on being productive, as I feel a sense of accomplishment after checking a task off my list. While I am excited for any tasks that come my way, I am especially excited to learn new skills that I can carry with me throughout life.
