Olivia:

I've always wanted to volunteer abroad, I remember scrolling the websites when in class, day-dreaming of giving back to the world through animal sanctuaries, eco-farms, education and empowement. Now I am finally old enough to experience different cultures in a sustainable, genuinely ethical way, i want to make the most.

What a bonus that my soul mate also wanted to join me on my dream, so now, it's our dream.

Harrison:

All I care about in life is being on the right side of history, making my small mark on the wall of a big change and being able to say I did my absolute best. I feel very strongly that every small positive impact can seem insignificant, but down the line it can change so much trajectory.

I am a dedicated and passionate conservation enthusiast with a deep love for animals and the natural world. With a background in green local politics, female first support teams at festivals and experience working on our own sustainable home renovations in rural Bulgaria (but please don’t ask to see my bricklaying skills)

🍸 hospitality experience, restaurants, weddings and front of house volunteered at sustainable organisations
👧 & 🍃 volunteered at sustainable and women’s first initiatives
💖 passion lead, wanting to make a difference

Although 9-5 I am a skilled marketeer with a passion for genuine customer experiences, I have always had "extra-curriculars" such as volunteering at Women In Sustainability, our local herb garden, campaigning for our local green party and being "guardian angels" at music festivals, providing women-first support.

In our (not so!) spare time, we also pet-sat around the neighbourhood. I can send you our profile which contains our 5 star reviews.

When that got too "normal" for us, we decided to buy a derelict home in Bulgaria and complete most renovations ourselves - a challenge that definitely benefitted us in physical and mental skills!

I strive to be an independent (asking questions, using initiative and proactivity) team player (teaching others, pulling my weight and being easy to work with)

In our recent local election I decided to take a step up and ran for local councillor in my constituency, alas I did not win, however 200 people were kind enough to give me their vote!

My partner and I have also volunteered at several festivals through the UN women’s ‘Guardian Angels’ programme, aimed at providing women a safe space and an opportunity to educate male festivals goers about real issues faced by women at events such as these.

Not one we expected would be on our bingo card, however my partner and I last year decided to join her family in the decision to buy a property in rural Bulgaria! This has been a once in a lifetime opportunity for us and has not disappointed in both making us laugh and cry - sometimes in the space of 5 minutes. We have learned so many skills from plumbing, rendering, bricklaying and electricals to putting up walls, gardening, concrete casting and flooring - we really have had to learn on the job! If this hasn’t taught us anything else, it has taught us that no task is too big to handle, no risk is not worth taking and if you don’t understand, keep asking the right questions until you do.
