Description

Hello! I'm Navoda and I am solo-backpacking around South America for the next few months. I am looking for a community-based, meaningful volunteering opportunity where I can contribute to local projects and exchange my skills and experiences. I am an energetic, open-minded, sociable and emotionally-intelligent individual who loves learning and challenges.

I am particularly interested in gardening, permaculture, craft, arts, wellbeing and language projects! I enjoy living communally, sharing food and my time with others. My interests currently include being in nature, hiking, running, cooking, live music, reading, yoga and am a beginner surfer.

I graduated from university two years ago and have been working at a gardening college for autistic young adults for the past year. I have now left my job to travel for a few months. Therefore I am super excited to take my time in exploring and working in great places. I look forward to meeting you!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I recently graduated with a masters in mechanical engineering and so I have good technical understanding alongside great people skills. I have varied work experiences! When I was 18, I privately tutored violin to young children (as a violinist myself) as well as tutoring maths and english. Throughout university, I maintained front of house roles working at music venues, theatres and bars and after graduating I became a teaching assistant within SEN educational settings. My most current position is working as a teaching assistant at an environmental educational charity in London, providing vocational training for autistic young adults. This is a community I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of and where I have developed teaching and some gardening knowledge. Therefore I am great at working with people in various environments.

Travel experience
I have traveled many places yet this will be my first time properly solo travelling. I am born and raised in London and have travelled to the many beautiful parts of the UK. I interrailed around Europe for a month when I was 20 and have visited many places in Europe. I am of Sri Lankan heritage and visit there every couple of years. I went to Cuba in 2024 for a month which was a highlight and enabled me to practice some of my basic Spanish language skills. Last year, I travelled to the Azores and Portugal for my love of hiking and (beginner) surfing.
